Texas Marine comes home to rest...(This is how Texas rolls!)

This morning a Marine comes home to rest...

SSgt Chauncey Mays who was killed in action in Afganistan came home to a regional welcome filled with family, friends, local veterans, townspeople, Sheriff deputies from every conceivable department in North East Texas, and 200+ Patriot Guards to lie in state at Beaty Funeral home in Winnsboro, Texas today...

I can only imagine this because my Dad, who is rare to tears felt compelled to tell me what he saw today...

Staff Sgt. Chauncey Mays High School came out today to line the road coming into Winnsboro, Texas where the the large family (arriving in the procession in a tour bus) of this fallen Marine were extremely appreciative and humbled by the enormity of the turn out...

Staff Sgt. Mays was killed in action on 28 February 2011 conducting Bomb Disposal Operations in that theater of war...

With local TV covering the event, it was not clear to many who know that these types of events are picketed by the Westboro Baptist Church (of Kansas) with extremely contraversial and offensive presentations...

Apparently after getting a positive ruling from the Supreme Court of the United States that their (WBC) activity is "protected speech" under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the contraversial group was no where to be found...

(Personal Note) Maybe they know crossing south of the Red River is a big No-No in the State of Texas...Considering the positive and supportive nature of the crowd lining Texas highways this afternoon...

I do not have any news on the actual date and time of the graveside service or any viewings at the funeral home in that quiet East Texas town 90 miles east of Dallas...If I hear of anything I'll post it here...

Nice.

The Westboro folks I fear would not fare well in small-town Texas.

It’s a rough old world and there are some things in some places that they should not mess with.

Sad, yet beautiful too in a strange way. May God bless and comfort his family. I’m sure they feel a bit like the people in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bynVL4XezXg

“The Westboro folks I fear would not fare well in small-town Texas.”

As The Lord is my witness, this Puerto-Rican/German squid originally from Missouri, loves TEXAS.

May God Bless this fallen marine, SSgt Chauncey Mays, and may God Bless your father for being there for him and his family.

One of my family members is an EOD team leader, he has completed 2 tours in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan. He’s lost several friends and been blown up so many times his COC has finally pulled him from any more field work, and that pisses him off.

America is truly Blessed and we should always be thankful for all our brave warriors.

May he rest in peace. So many like him in EOD deserve citations for valor every time they engage the murderous snares of the moon-worshipping enemy.

That’s fine, like I implied that I was getting this info second hand, and upset that my Dad was so moved and upset...I don’t like it when he gets like that...

I’m glad the WBC idiots didn’t show up...I do not think my Dad would have had the restraint to not engage that filth...
