Ex-officer admits to molesting hundreds

A former Crescent City police officer admitted to a judge Tuesday that he was a pedophile and molested hundreds of children.

Sixty-year-old Pomona Park resident Paul Joseph Blair confessed to a lifetime of sexually abusing children during a dramatic hearing at the Putnam County Courthouse in Palatka.

"I've been a pedophile my whole life," Blair said. "In my lifetime, I've probably molested 200-300 girls."

Blair was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in state prison for two counts of sexual battery on a minor 12 to 18 years of age.

"You have wrecked and ruined quite a few lives, even more than I think anyone realized," Circuit Judge Patti Christensen said after Blair spoke.

Blair pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery of a minor on Feb. 18. The plea agreement he reached with prosecutors called for a 25-year prison sentence.

According to Christensen, Blair has a life-threatening illness, which the judge said was taken into account when determining the length of his prison sentence.

I hope his prison stay is short, and that he leaves in a bag.

Because the legislators and the judiciary refuse to execute them.

The problem with pedophiles very much extends to the law schools.

Something sounds a bit impossible, especially for a small population where people tend to knew each other.

If these numbers are accurate, how did this occur?

That's something I wondered about, too. I was thinking more like he molested four to six kids per year, assuming he didn't start till he was a little older than a rookie.

These guys have got so many psychological problems, who knows? A lot of criminal types have a tendency toward megalomania; they jack up the scale of their "accomplishments" to make themselves feel smarter. They convince themselves that they're supermen, and ordinary people are total clutzes, or worse, not even real. That's a psychopath.

On the other hand, a cop, a guy inside the thin blue line, could get away with an awful lot, especially given the cultural aspects... but I'd better not say any more; I'll call the wrath of a certain segment here down on myself.

Could be both. Psychopath and garrison loyalty effect. You'd think there'd be some kind of investigation of his chain of command, and what they knew. Wishful thinking I'm sure.

I wonder if he used his badge/police authority to get these girls in order to molest them? Or, was he a pedophile on his “off time?” Either way, the judge is being a woosy with the sentencing. Who cares if he is now sick? “If you can’t do the time then don’t do the crime”. IMHO

Speaking of cops, a possible headline would be “Cop cops to copping”.

Why must we contend with such predators

_____________________________________________________

I blame libertarians, myself. From their excusing porn, to their mindset that what one does in the privacy of their own bedroom is their own business, to a whole host of other moral misfunctions....

Because we, as a nation, lost sight of the need to legislate moral values, we are now paying the piper.

And before anyone tells me that we can’t legislate morality; just don’t. Laws are intrinsically moral. Or immoral (like abortion).

What with the secrecy issues, the Feminazis, the trough feeders whose salaries depend on “intervention, lawyers wanting to be the next Janet Reno the Child Defender, ad nauseam, the whole article read like something by Kafka.

If he had sex with anywhere that number of girls, he has a terminal case of HAGS syndrome.

When I read articles on FR, I don’t know by the name of the newspaper or city WHERE they are located. Is it in this country, is it in what state.

I’m just trying to alleviate other peoples frustration as to WHERE, without clicking like I did 4 or 5 times to get the answer.

When posts are made if the byline would just say it would make things easier for everyone. Only frustration on the way things get posted was mean’t not that it doesn’t happen everywhere or can’t happen everywhere.
NO OFFENSE MEAN’T!!

Left unsaid is the likely abuse of power this guy engaged in routinely, most likely covered up by his fellow officers.

Unless he did ALL THAT purely on his own time and never brought up “I am a Police Officer”. If you believe that I have prime Florida real estate to sell you!

You know I saw that thing with the big circle and just didn’t realize (with the circle on it) that it was FL.

Well understood, but geography isn’t well taught in school. The Florida panhandle was very famous in the 2000 elections in that the race was called before voters got to the polls. Central time line and all and a very Conservative area. You can put a circle on any State and not end up with that “panhandle”. Well, maybe Oklahoma, but the geography size difference is huge.

Nothing personal. This is my home.

Lets see how long it will take the-cops-can-do-no-wrong crowd to get here and defend his molesting children.

If cops were allowed to marry, then perhaps they wouldn't molest children...

I was thinking just pedophile because I know they don’t do well in prisons but you are right, put cop in the mix and he would not stand a chance in his own personal hell......

Lets see how long it will take the-cops-can-do-no-wrong crowd to get here and defend his molesting children. How long it will take them to say that the children deserved to be molested. That the posters who say what he did was wrong are cop haters.

Good grief. Just because some people don't hate cops and authority figures doesn't mean they'll defend a freakin' child molester. One wonders why you chose this as your first comment on this thread.

If you want to label me, yeah, I'm in the "don't hate cops" crowd, as I tend to try to respect them first, unless they give me a reason to think otherwise, and some have. They've got a tough job. On balance, I'm glad they're there.

But this guy is predator. That he's a cop is merely incidental. I can't even fathom the amount of damage he's done in his life. It's staggering that it's taken this long to get caught.
