US takes over three Tylenol plants

Excerpt only website: The government is taking over three Tylenol plants following a blizzard of drug recalls and a Food and Drug Administration criminal investigation into safety issues at the factories.

The FDA and the Justice Department on Thursday took action against McNeil PPC and two of its executives -- its vice president of quality and its vice president of operations for over-the-counter products -- for failing to comply with federally-mandated manufacturing practice.

McNeil, a division of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ, Fortune 500), said it had agreed to put its plants -- one in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, one in Fort Washington, Pa. and one in Lancaster, Pa., under FDA supervision.

Well if you can't bail them into control, just take the company. I wonder if any Repubics will look into this. I doubt it.

I always wonder about the “back story” when I see these reports.

More government control is always my first thought.

Actually, Advil is my first choice of pain relievers. Then I go for the Merlot.

Quite a long article, but not a single word about what the problem was.

With these Communists in charge, another government takeover is not reassuring.

So, should we lay in a stock of ibuprofen and acetamenophen? Obama’s thugs will probably outsource it to China or something.

Once the obama gubmint takes over, there really will be gubmint sanctioned poison in a bottle.

Sheesh, my warehouse is filling up with all of the things I have to stockpile before the gubbermint bans them. I am quite proud of my ammunition and incandescent light bulb collections.

For what its worth:

Where is aspirin made?

Is there any aspirin made in the U.S. with American ingredients?
An expose in the New York Times Magazine (Nov. 2, 2008) revealed that there are no major generic aspirin manufacturers in Europe or the U.S. Most aspirin is now made in China.

You're on the right track. Don't forget TP, it's a necessity. Remember when we could buy it in colors to match our bathrooms?

What ISN’T coming from China? Lots of drugs come from other countries and we don’t know what the hell we’re getting. At one time I was getting meds from Drugstore.com and I noticed almost every time they come from a different country. I’m sure the cost had something to do with it but I still did not like it.

Depends on the time of day. After 5pm: gin or vodka always works.

Maybe the years-ago Tylenol “tampering” on a store shelf wasn’t a “tampering” at all?

Well, Johnson and Johnson weren’t doing a very good job of it. I can’t believe the quality problems they have had recently, some of them pretty serious - a friend of mine on insulin was threatened with their quality problems. Why heads aren’t rolling all over the place there, I don’t know.

At least with government control, they will probably make stuff that costs a lot and doesn’t actually do anything.

the corrupt biased media have no clue about facts anymore.
They like to write pieces with no back ups, then demean anyone who does not agree with them.
beck might be over the top at times but he does use their words against them where as our wonderful corrupt media just writes and the sheep follow.

Oh believe me, I have the TP. When you really need that, the price of gold will not matter.

“Lots of drugs come from other countries and we don’t know what the hell we’re getting. “

It’s especially embarrassing that our ILLEGAL drugs aren’t even made here anymore - big Mexican meth labs undercut our tiny mom-and-pop operations.

Can’t we make ANYTHING here anymore?

If they did, it would be found illegal because they didn’t follow 0’s agenda.
