DAYTON — The city’s Civil Service Board and the U.S. Department of Justice have agreed on a lower passing score for the police recruit exam after it was rejected because not enough blacks passed the exam.

The city lowered both written exams a combined 15 points that resulted in 258 more people passing the exam, according to a statement released Thursday by Civil Service officials. The agreement allows the city to immediately resume its plans to hire police and firefighters.

Too many whites. The test is racist.

I believe departments everywhere have done this for the last 30 years. I recall people being denied a chance to serve because their scores were too HIGH.

Many municipalities don’t want to accept fed or state funds to hire new employees or build new schools because in a very short time the costs will make them regret it. The brick & mortar of the new school, or the salary of the rookie cop, is not the problem; the problem becomes the teachers’ salaries and the cop’s a few years (VERY FEW years) down the road. The teacher tenure is the kiss of death, and when “outside” funding dries up you have a scenario like NJ, where taxpayers are literally being driven out of the state by property taxes completely out of proportion to services received. The sanctity of tenure and pay increases can’t be challenged, so everything else (police, fire, public works, etc.) gets cut to accomodate the teachers. The fact that Newark, Jersey City, Camden, and Paterson laid off so many police officers while their teachers are sitting pretty says it all; they have become NJ’s “upper middle class” (replacing the former upper middle class, composed of many professionals working in the financial and pharmaceutical sectors until those jobs started leaving).

That is what they want. Just someone who will do as they are told and crack skulls when ordered. Care to guess whose skulls they are going to be ordered to crack?

So, the department needed to replace “dozens of retirees”, dozens, say that might be 50 or so and they had 490 applicants that passed the exam under the original scoring conditions - that's probably 1 hire for each 10 passing applicants. But justice forced them to dumb down the grades so that 1 in 15 were eligible???

What's happening to our proud country??

“What are the ramifications of those ‘policed’?”

Oh, probably higher crime. More pOlice corruption. Higher homeowners insurance. Much more ‘diversity’ in the pOlice Dept. And it keeps the west side of Dayton quiet for the next couple of years. But I am sure there will be another racial problem arise soon to keep the community organizers busy.

These policies validate the Klan’s contentions that some ethnic groups are inferior to others, and women are inferior to men; rather than a hick in a hood, our own government is publicly stating this as the law of the land by legislating/permitting these policies.

The “protected” groups should no longer be considered inferior when they themselves vocally oppose these demeaning (though highly profitable) policies.

“It is incredible how public safety doesn’t even enter the discussion...”

An acquaintance was a fireman in a town north of Boston. He retired ASAP back in the mid-1990’s. Why? Because the minorities that were being hired were clearly unqualified (”f**king retarted” was the exact phrase he used to describe the ones he was forced to work with) and he could not rely on them for his safety while on the job.

Public safety? A joke, like everything else has become.

I don’t take any “protected” minority or woman seriously until they prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that their ethnicity or genitalia wasn’t the reason they are in their position; while it is nice to deal with competent people from those groups, you’d be shocked how many are simply useless tokens hired as charity (or to protect against lawsuits). I’ve always found that when you go straight to the “non-protected” people, you get results; they actually earned their position, and often have to really produce to avoid having another token replace them. Even the tokens and their keepers know SOMEBODY has to do the real work...

So when they dumb it down far enough where everyone passes, what will they then use as a criteria for hiring? Skin color?

A message regarding the new Civil Service exams.

To all individuals of Caucasian descent:

How can you be so racially insensitive as to score higher than people of color?

Don't you know that the racially sensitive thing to do would be to answer several questions incorrectly to lower your score?

That is why from this day forward, any Caucasian scoring over a 90% on the exam will be automatically disqualified for demonstrating racial insensitivity, a quality we will not tolerate in the civil service.

Need we ask, of those passing the exam, who are more equal? I think the answer is obvious, and the hiring will of course reflect the same.

Doesn’t Costa Rica sound good?
