President Obama on Sunday called for gun-rights advocates and proponents of gun control to find common ground two months after the shooting which killed six people and wounded 13 others, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
The Arizona Daily Star published an op-ed by Obama on Sunday calling for stronger restrictions on gun sales to buyers suspected of mental instability.
“A man our Army rejected as unfit for service; a man one of our colleges deemed too unstable for studies; a man apparently bent on violence, was able to walk into a store and buy a gun,” Obama wrote of Jared Loughner, the man accused of shooting Giffords and 19 other people, six fatally.

They are still milking the AZ shooting for politics. He should control his gun walker program and union violence and death threats.

We had a minority Dem here in Indiana (Julia Carson - who was
functionally illiterate and then became senile) who had a permanent House seat until she essentially died on the job.
Then they gave it to her Muslim grandson.
If Giff has 20% brain function remaining, she’ll outdo Julia in the reasoning dept.
Maybe ATF thought he was taking the gun to Mexico.

as a side note when I lived in Maryland I was touring historic St Mary’s city. At the small historic church,There was a beautifully engraved lock box built into the wall by the front doors. I asked what that box was for and was told it was the lock box for Gen Patton’s pistols, because the one place he wouldn’t wear them was in a House of God.

If he had tried this in the weeks after the shooting, he might have gotten somewhere. A bit late now.
Make this argument: "You are too free. There's too much freedom out there, and it's not safe. Let's pass a law that will restrict your freedom just a little, in return for safety."
Then, liberals on the executive side don't enforce the law.
After a few years pass, and the promised "safety" never materializes, they simply act like the first law was never passed, and repeat the cycle.
If someone brings up the fact that they already restricted freedoms a few years ago and no good came of it, they reply by saying "so what are you saying, that we should have no laws at all?"
At that point, our side doesn't know what to say.
Obama’s *issing into the wind here. The tide in America for the last decade has been in the direction of softening gun restrictions and bolstering the people’s 2nd Amendment rights.
He is now officially impotent, and his speeches are having little impact on national events and policy making. He needs to stick to what he does best - partying and golfing.
Nothing this administration does is without a self-serving long term goal to fundamentally change this country in his image.
Even his deliberate selling of guns to Mexicans, is designed to evoke a loud cry from the masses for MORE gun control!
Ya think Zero has a different set of rules for We The People/The Tea Party and a different set of rules for his cronies, the Union thugs and goons??

DAYTON -- The Dayton Police Department is lowering its testing standards for recruits.
It's a move required by the U.S. Department of Justice after it says not enough African-Americans passed the exam.
Dayton is in desperate need of officers to replace dozens of retirees. The hiring process was postponed for months because the D.O.J. rejected the original scores provided by the Dayton Civil Service Board, which administers the test.
Under the previous requirements, candidates had to get a 66% on part one of the exam and a 72% on part two.

Not allowing pissed off unstable liberals access to firearms, because they may get angry at their representatives for not being liberal enough and go out and shoot them.
