Has the influence of cable news peaked?
That's the conclusion of PEWs Project for Excellence in Journalism. According to their 2011 State of the News Media study all four cable networks saw their prime-time audiences fall in 2010.
MSNBC, Fox, HLN, and CNN lost between 39,000 and 331,000 viewers as cable -- the fourth most popular platform for news -- showed signs of becoming less important.
Fox News lost a whopping 11% of its prime time viewers (234,000 viewers), but that's not even the worst performance of the cablers.

Personally, I get my news online. I rarely turn on the TV news.

They used to be the place to go to get news not covered by the alphabet channels. FOX has become just another alphabet channel. Get my news online - from original sources when possible.
I know I don’t watch Bill O’Reilly anymore.
After that jack-ss defended Jesee Jackson for using racist language, he lost all credibility in the “No Spin Zone” for me.

It’s the 24-hour news cycle - not everything can be worthy of a “Fox News Alert”, and the rehashing even of the tragedy in Japan over the weekend was just too much to take.

I posted this to remind you of the topic, which is cable news.
Neither Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly are in the news block at Fox News.
He has a breezy, flippant, detached style like he doesn't give a crap about anything except collecting his 14 million dollar paycheck. His flashes of anger and involvement look faked. Plus all he has on are "Fox News commentators" and most of them are vacuous women to pull in the female viewers. A useless show that is taped at 4PM EST because his show on the day of Japan's earthquake said nothing about it

You have done it now. Publius6961 is going to go off on you for saying something bad about Beck. I did earlier and Publius6961 went off like you could not imagine. He acted like a two year old. Just warning you FRiend.
Beck’s time slot is the worst time slot on tv. He could lose over 50% of his views and still do better than anyone else has done in that time slot.
As for O’Reilly, he’s lost the conservative viewers.
I can’t listen to him (Beck) it is not sticking my head in the sand it is just how much doom and gloom can anyone take in one day.
On radio, i started listening to BOT radio and at least I have some hope. :)
You don’t make money starting off conservative and then swerving to the left. Playing to the middle for more viewers isn’t a “WINNING” strategy.
If Hannity and O'Reilly would end the charades of pretending their left-wing guests provides "balance" and that whatever they say is even the least bit credible, I might be inclined to start watching them again.
But, as it is, I can't watch either of those guys. I don't give a flying fig what Bob Beckel or Ennis Pelican or Kirsten Powers or any other left-wing hack has to say. They're all liars. And to give them a platform to spew their bilge is more than I can stand.
At least when Greg Gutfeld has left-wing wackos for guests, he has the sense to mock whatever they say.

I watch FoxNews MUCH mess than I used to - for a short period maybe 3 or 4 times a week at most - and just Brett Baier, unless I get home too late and want to see the cable news slant rather than Internet (where I go MOST of the time). But I can only stand a few minutes of uber-cool "Shep" and have to turn it off.
