Who knew that was Gottfried’s voice anyway? I sure didn’t until now. It’s not like it’s that easily identifyable. They can get any grovelly voiced voiceover person to do it - probably for a lot less than he did.

The AFLAC policyholder list would be great for selling swampland in Lousyanna.

You’re right. He made a mistake. I don’t know if I would have fired him for it, but it’s not my decision.

Yes there were. Remember Heineken(sic)man? He still shows up on FR from time to time. There were others but I can't remember them now. It was a long time ago. I lived there but moved about five years prior to the storm. My son got wiped out. But he evacuated and at least he was ok. I got a lot of them after the storm. Many really very cruel. But as in all good satire true.

AFLAC has a major stake in the Japan insurance industry. Double Bad timing, Gilbert

Using the same name? I’m not trying to be funny, marketing
in Japan with a such a hard “L” sound in a name is
begging for jokes.

I asked an expert about Aflac insurance. He said that a lot of companies write the same stuff for less. “You pay a lot for the duck.”

A very ill informed statement at best. Aflac has the highest loss ratio in the industry returning close to 70% of the premium the company collects from policiy holders. None of their competition even comes close. Thus making Aflac a much better value than many of their competitors. My guess is your “expert” sells insurance for one of Aflac’s competitors.

What kind of insensitive fool would try to find humor in the tragedy that has befallen the Japanese people? Oh, yeah. Gilbert Gottfried.

Exactly right. Just a couple of weeks after Sep 11, [h]e began his monologue joking that he had intended to catch a plane, but couldn't get a direct flight because "they said they have to connect with the Empire State Building first." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_Gottfried)

People like this insensitive idiot don't bother me. But the thought of all those Americans that flock to his shows and movies does scare and nauseate me. Well, they also think that Obama leads the country in the right direction...

almost all comedy is. It’s what makes it funny.

This is true only with respect to the recent comedy. It became crass just as the rest of the entertainment. Up until a couple of decades ago, movie-goers did not need to see intestines falling out to know that a person was killed, or buttocks and breasts to know that a couple is making love, or hear F-word every second to know that someone is upset.

You must've missed those times, and your remark says more about your age than comedy.

I know of one way for Gilbert ol' boy to Apologize to the Japanese:

Bad portrayal of Seppuku. He's clearly using a katana when the proper instrument is a tantō or wakizashi. The katana was used by the second to execute a decapitation blow once the disembowelment was completed.

hard “L” sound in a name is begging for jokes.

I grew up in a Pac NW city that used to export logs to Japan. Crews off the log boats would be walking around town while the stevedores loaded the ship. We would ask them (for our ammusement) what they were doing in town and they'd reply "roading rogs".

They are an interesting bunch. L's are said like R's and R's like L's. The two sounds can be said.

I think someone a long time ago messed up the Romanji pronunciation of the R and L...
