The House just voted 236-181 to remove federal funding for National Public Radio via the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
All Things Considered is one of the most insipid broadcasts ever aired. It is barf-inducing.
This looks like a straight party-line vote to me. Probably DOA in the Senate.
Only hope it’ll happen someday.
Meanwhile in the hell freezes over dept. Boston public broadcaster WGBH has been called “right-wing”—by a spokesman for its largest union. The union rejected a contract but the station has imposed it over their objections, leading announcer/union spokesman Jordan Weinstein to call it “right- wing rejection of collective bargaining”
HAHAHAHAHA! Take that, my liberal sister.
Is this part of the overall appropriations bill? I don’t think so. If not, it is a purely symbolic vote. If it is not part of the overall bill, the party poobahs are not serious about defunding NPR.
Now it’s off to the Senate,
Where ideas go to die.

We in Minnesota are just delighted to have a buffoon, by temperament and profession, as our Senator.
The senate has to pass it....and it won't. And even if it did, the stain will veto it.
So...NPR goes merrily on....safe, left wing biased, and economically secure with your tax money.
Voting to defund NPR has the exact same effect as voting to repeal the stain's new healthcare law.

Yep they need to tie all this stuff to ‘must pass’ legislation, otherwise they are doomed to fail and the Republicans can look at the camera and say “....but we tried.”
I am just surprised that so many ‘conservatives’ are taken in by all these cheap theatrics.
I don’t mind being called stupid on a daily basis by smug airheads, but I do mind paying for it. Bravo.
They shouldn’t merely defund NPR. They should recoup some of their investment, or sell off some of it to recoup their expenses over the years.

“What about PBS and Pacifica?”
American Public Radio, and Pacifica are a bit of a different animal. They are actually Private Foundations that provide programming, that Public-owned Radio stations use your tax dollars to pay for.
Yes, they are taxpayer supported, but through a third channel. They don’t get direct subsidy, like NPR does.
That said, some of the most insane, outrageous, and racist comments I’ve ever heard have come from Pacifica’s Chicago affiliate
