Just as the U.S. military is indoctrinating troops to accept open gays in their ranks, a federal commission is pressing the Pentagon to make the force more diverse by, among other ideas, opening infantry and armor units to women.
With the Military Leadership Diversity Commissions report out this month, its leaders have briefed Deputy Defense Secretary William J. Lynn and plan to deliver its 162-page report to every member of Congress.
The commission says it wants the military to resemble the ethnic makeup of America. It is urging the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force to validate the standards such as education, test scores, criminal records and drug use that disqualify large numbers of blacks and Hispanics.
Racial/ethnic minorities are less likely to meet eligibility requirements than are non-Hispanic whites, and that gap is widening, the report says.
The commission said women should be allowed into male-only land combat units to create a level playing field in promotions for all service members who meet the qualifications.
The Pentagon seems open to the prospect of repealing a 1994 law that prevents women from joining direct land combat in infantry, most artillery and tank units. Congress enacted a law that did allow women on combat ships, as well as on bomber and fighter aircraft.
Part of the momentum for women in direct combat units stems from the fact they have engaged in firefights in Iraq and Afghanistan as military police and been subjected to enemy fire and homemade bombs, called improvised explosive devices (IEDs), just like the men.

Curiously, diversity has never won a war.
Diversity never filled a sandbag. Diversity never charged up a hill with overwhelming odds against you. Diversity never landed on Normandy Beach. Diversity never pulled a 24-hour shift in a foxhole waiting for death. Diversity never jumped out of a C-130 in darkness. Diversity never engaged Communists, Fascists, or Nazis. Diversity never grappled with a lack of bullets in a hostile zone. Diversity never braved 115 degree heat with a 75-pound backpack on, or minus-25 degree cold with a 100-pound backpack on. Diversity never lived in a sub for 100 days. Diversity never met up with a POW camp situation. Diversity never met an enemy who was diversified. Diversity never ate MREs for thirty days straight. Diversity never agreed to die for a country or cause.
In short, diversity is something you chat about in a classroom with a professor who offers opinions on things but never spent a evening in a foxhole. And the sad thing? After you finish up basic and infantry school...then spend a year in Afghanistan...you would grin and tell the professor that you’ve become awful diverse since joining up as a Marine or Army, and can say “yes, sir” or “no, maam” without any problems.
What they mean by "validate the standard" is "stop using standards". I guess uneducated criminals are getting short shrift when it comes to enlisting. Being a security manager, the folks they want to let in are the same folks we end up kicking out because they can't get a clearance, along with some other obvious bad traits...
Homosexuality (or even heterosexuality) is not ethnicity.
What about the fat? What about the old? What about the ugly? What about the handicapped? - Surely there’s a place in the U.S. military for them, too? Whine, whine, whine, whine, whine . . nasal whine!!
What diversity might do is provide 0bama with some mainly Democrat-voting, minority units which could be placed in the DC area to provide him with what amounts to a Praetorian Guard to shield him from angry citizens and patriotic military should he try to stage a coup-—something which I think he is more than capable of doing.
I also think he is more than capable of “going Gaddafi” on the American People when we resist his attempts at tyranny. In fact, if it came to that, I think he would make Gaddafi’s slaughter look like slow motion.
Come May, I bet the 2011 high school grads avoid the military like the plague. And the kids from the 2007 class will be ending their 1st term running away like all get all. Plus all the retires getting out. Will 0’b fork head push for a return of the draft??

They need to stop shoving women and openly gays into places they don’t belong.
Progressives have destroyed nearly every other institution in our society. Why would the military be exempt?

How?
Since 1975 the military has been composed of people who want to be in the military. As a result the effectiveness of the military has risen to where it is today.
So, how can you get a military that reflects the racial/social make up of the nation?
Return to the draft would be the most probable first step. This way every racial/social sub-sector of the nation would be forced to contribute its “fair” share of initial person power.
The second step will have to be to enforce promotions based on racial/social sub-sectors. No more competitive promotions, no more quality re-enlistments, no more sending the “best” to advanced schools, sending the best to “choice assignments, no more eliminating those physically/emotionally/intellectually unsuitable for military service.
The final step will have to be developing individual unit manning documents to reflect the correct mix of social subgroups. This would be the only “fair” application of the above policies.
Sir, a final question please.
How are you going to ensure that each racial/social sub group in the nations contributes their fair share of body bags in future conflicts?
It seems to me that bombs, bullets, and other lethal agents found on battlefields are the true equal opportunity employers; they don't care what they hit.
So, will you keep a racial/social subgroup on the front lines until that group contributes its “fair” share of KIA, WIA, MIA and then replace them with another group which hasn't contributed its “fair” share?

Great idea, now what is that number, for the number, of women that get knocked up during deployment, and ship duty . Dang!!!
