Dane County judge halts collective bargaining law

Madison -- Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi issued a temporary restraining order Friday, barring the publication of a controversial new law that would sharply curtail collective bargaining for public employees.

Sumi’s order will prevent Secretary of State Doug La Follette from publishing the law until she can rule on the merits of the case. Dane County Ismael Ozanne is seeking to block the law because he says a legislative committee violated the state’s open meetings law.

Sumi said Ozanne was likely to succeed on the merits.

This is how things work now. When a law is passed that hurts the left, it is tied up in the courts forever and nothing gets done. When a law is passed that hurts America, even if a judge knocks it down, the leftists in the bureaucracy plow ahead with it anyway. See ObamaCare. Our system is truly broken. God only knows what it will take to fix it.

Easy fix. Governor Walker should thank the judge for her advice about the law and announce that he won't be following it. As the head of the executive branch he has to determine for himself what laws he is responsible for executing. The judiciary can't resolve that question for him. Judges can't make him accept their views any more than he can force them to accept his views on proper criminal procedure. Just tell the courts to pound sand and get back to enforcing the law.

What are the Dems going to do about it? Impeach him? NBL. Recall him? Not for a full year. Beat him next time? Maybe, but don't bet on it.

I’m becoming a bigot, I’m afraid. We need people in power who have a vested interest in seeing America succeed. Every day now we see a further erosion of the rule of law. We see it at the state and federal level. The will of the people is increasingly overruled and overturned by politically motivated renegade judges.

Increasingly, we see a smorgasbord, pick-and-choose enforcement of the law, and we see ignoring of the law by those in the highest positions of our great land.

When the will of the people is thwarted again and again, impugned and ignored, it is only a matter of time until these people will revolt. History bears this out, as do today's headlines across the world.

So the dems have just removed, for the moment, the tool that Gov Walker needed to balance the budget.

No problem.... immediately layoff 2000 state union workers, the teachers.

Announce that there will likely be another 2000 layoffs within 30 days, and so on.

Why just find a corrupt and crooked judge and make laws from the bench. The dem/lib/prop/pops have been doing this for years!

Same in Illinois. They throw all the judges on the ballot and people don’t know anything about them. The Tea Party has been putting out information on them lately and almost got a few of the worst voted out in the last election. This is an area that really needs to be pushed by conservatives.

Walker’s only move at this point would be to have the bill voted through again - this time with plenty of notice for the mobs to show up and tear the place apart.

The judge refused to categorize the work stoppage as a strike and said that the district could not prove irreparable harm had been caused by the teachers.

Since when does harm have to be irreparable in order for the instigation to be actionable?

My only concern, from a very practical perspective, is whether he will gather 2,000 new voters who applaud his action. That may prove to be difficult in his state.
