Pakistan Switches Sides, Expanding Arms Allegiance With China and Leaving U.S. Behind

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan is beefing up its arsenal of nuclear-capable missiles by embracing China as its new strategic arms partner and backing away from the U.S., analysts have told Fox News.

Pakistan earlier this month test-fired a nuclear-capable missile from an undisclosed location – the second in a month of try-outs for its short-range surface-to-surface Hataf 2 class rocket, co-developed with the Chinese. It was the latest in a series of arms collaborations between the two nations, which view their strategic partnership as a counterweight to a boldly confident India, which has American support.

Until the mid-1960s, the United States was the principal supplier of weapons to Pakistan, the world’s eighth most-powerful nuclear nation. But the U.S. began to back away from the relationship after years of difficult and sometimes unpredictable relations following the 9/11 attacks. The U.S. no longer fully supports the military ambitions of a Pakistan that is being destabilized by an insurgency it cannot control, rising radicalism and anti-Westernism, and a government considered by some too weak and corrupt.

Cannot say I blame them given the current government and is supporters on the right and left, do you think any third world country will believe anything the government says, when you start trying to kill other countries leaders they don’t like. They are just trying to look out for them selves.

As I understand it the strategic significance of Afghanistan is that if it falls to the Taliban, Pakistan will ultimately fall to the Taliban along with its nuclear arsenal.

If so, look for millions of secular, Westernized Pakistanis to decide they'd rather live in India.

Umm, whoever wrote this article needs a history lesson ASAP. Pakistan never switched sides-they have always sided with the Chicoms. Since the late 50s.

Anyone who is deluding themselves into thinking Bush or Obama pushed them to the Chicoms better take a look at their order of battle. For every F-16 they have, their’s approximately 5 Chinese built F-7 fighters. And several hundred more on order.

Pakistan decided on this move almost 50 years ago; they’ve only fleeced Washington into throwing more military aid.

Nothing new here. Pakistan has been receiving Chinese military aid since the 60’s. China allied itself with Pakistan to balance the Soviets who aided India back during the time Mao and Brezhnev were about to go to war against each other. During the 1971 war both Nixon and Mao supported Pakistan.

I keep telling everyone that WW III has started and most people don’t even know it.

Americans can be sooooooooo stupid. Real shame - real shame - where all of this is leading.

A bloody bloody war is ahead of us. We will all pay the price before it is all said and done.

If I am not misreading any of this bull, the impression I have is that just like that of the North Vietnamese, the Pakistani, too, have the potentials to only exploit the Chinese (using them as a mechanical advantage of kind to counter balance the forces that are exerting against them) and not tilting/leaning politically 100% towards the Chinese therefore not to get too hyped up over this.

However, to keep evil at bay or away from her western flank, let’s just say that if Pakistan were hit [a’la Libya fashion] and that in itself is a big if of course, then, I’m pretty confident that short of committing ground troops a’la Korean war fashion, Beijing can be assured to provide Pakistan with all of the support she needed. This support would include equipments up to the J-10 even the J-11B, all the logistics, and the strategical support and command infrusture that Pakistan needed to defend itself against hostile elements.

And why is that?

I think “THE THANKS” and “THE BACK STABBING” that Beijing has gotten from Vietnam after all of that thick and thin she went through together with Vietnam during the Vietnam war is a lesson she (China) will never forget and that she will apply that lesson to all future dealings with the exception of North Korea who, even to this day, has proven that the Chinese saying “as close as lip and teeth” indeed does live up to every of its words.

Remember too that Pak and China are in the midst of a border dispute with India over the Jammu and Kashmir regions. A stronger alliance between Pak and China could cause that to ignite into a full border war (China also wants Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh). If that conflict goes hot, and I am fairly sure it will eventually, the US will be India’s only real hope for an alliance, as it has few other friends in the region. With or without help, India will make it very expensive for China and Pak to take those areas, and that could ignite a regional war as other states are pulled in.

That’s what happens when a formerly rich, former manufacturing powerhouse sends all its manufacturing to its largest competitor, while also sending all its money via “free trade” to its largest competitor:

The competitor ... WINS.

It’s not just Obama.

Our so-called leaders have been sending our factories, national treasure and our technology to China as fast as they could for the last 20 years.

Republicans and Dems alike, have sold us out.

How could they switch sides? They’re Muslims. They will always be on both sides, for a while, until they switch.

They’ll align themselves with whichever side works best for them at the moment.

If someone is working under the delusion that they are *with* any one at all, they’re being dangerously deceived. They won’t hesitate to stab you in the back, or slit your throat.

Obama? Well... My two cents here: I betcha he have nothing to do with it. In other words, he too was just obeying orders. He had no choice in the ‘no fly’ matter. The object of his ‘appointment’, yes, in my personal opinion his was an appointment, and the job he was designed to fulfill is finally taking shape. If everything goes well, he will get another four years to finalize it. If otherwise, he’ll be out as quickly as he came in.
