Threats Claim Nuclear Bombs Hidden All Over U.S.
CBS Chicago ^ | March 30, 2011 | Staff

Posted on 03/30/2011 6:22:44 AM PDT by library user

CHICAGO (CBS 2) – The threats came in the mail and to date, there have been 25 letters that warn of nuclear bombs destroying America.

People who got them called the FBI and CBS 2′s Kristyn Hartman learned, the Bureau’s Chicago office is leading the investigation.

FBI Special Agent Andre Zavala said, “Yes, they alarmed a lot of people.”

Attorney Tracy Rizzo was alarmed. A number of days ago, an envelope, with a Chicago postmark and a hand-written address to her private investigations firm, came in the mail.

The letter inside said, “The Al-Qaeda organization has planted 160 nuclear bombs throughout the U.S. in schools, stadiums, churches, stores, financial institutions and government buildings.” It also said, “This is a suicide mission for us.”

The writer, who claims to be Osama Bin Laden, tells the reader the nukes are remotely controlled. “It was clear the writer wanted to scare me,” said Rizzo, “Yes, it frightened me.” Rizzo was one of eight people in the Chicago area to contact the FBI.

Agencies in Oregon, California, Texas and Florida also got the letter with the Chicago postmark.

“There are items in the letter that lead us to believe it is a hoax,” said Zavala. “There are several demands documented that aren’t fully coherent.”

He said much of what’s in the message doesn’t add up, but in a post 9-11 world, the FBI can’t let it go – even if it does appear to be a hoax.

“The FBI investigates every element. We can’t take that chance,” said Zavala.

So, why the threats?

The writer alluded to how families in Afghanistan have to live. The FBI said it will find that writer, and when it does, he could face 5 to 10 years in prison for each letter mailed. Anyone who’s received a similar letter should call the FBI.

The smallest nuke available (W80) is about 300lbs and 31.4 by 11.8 inches. It’s more like a footlocker than a suitcase.

If I were president and if a nuke ever went off on our soil... I would fire every ICBM we have, at every enemy that we have. If America is over then the GAME IS OVER. I would pledge this from day one.

maybe ATF allowed nukes into our nation in order to secure the arrest of the persons involved like they let guns out of our nation to Mexico for that very reason.

The ATF allowed gun transactions to the cartels to give gun ownership a black eye.

Remember MSM hysterics a while back over the (debunked) claims that cartels are supplied primarily by US gun dealers? It was subsequently proven that most of their armament was obtained from overseas. Hence operation Gunwalker.

Wouldn’t that render the US uninhabitable for quite some time?

Where would they get the nuke material for 150 bombs?

Just writing the letters creates terror and that is their goal.

Had they said six or even 16, it would be much more believable. They’re just blowing smoke.

Not credible at all.

Detonating one nuke in a US city is sufficient end in itself. The impact would be profound. The efforts to prevent it are enormous. To have one in place ready to blow, but sit on it and wait for placement of others risks losing any opportunity. Sending demented handwitten screeds with deranged claims is worthy of the dime-a-dozen nutcase pile. A letter means nothing. A mushroom cloud over a city makes and changes history.

Interesting that whoever did this knew which investigators to contact, addresses, names etc

Some insider information that should help forensic investigators to identify a small pool of suspects

They're basically manufacturing evidence to be used to put gun ownership on trial in the court of public opinion. Are we past that awkward stage yet?

I think the number is credible. They are not referring to traditional nuclear warheads. They are referring to dirty bombs, the way I read it.

Were they sent by a Jennings & Rall employee?

Valente is behind this, but Hawkings has got his number.

Just remember: Cheyenne is NOT YOUR FRIEND.

LOL! Jericho is EXACTLY what I thought of when I read the headline! Except they only had 26 bombs, IIRC, and Hawkins had one of them.

Nuclear bombs don’t have to be fissionable to be destructive...
