Obama Administration: GOP Cuts Would Kill 70,000 Kids
Time Magazine ^ | March 31, 2011 | Adam Sorensen

That's what would happen if Congress pares back appropriations for USAID, says Rajiv Shah:

"We estimate, and I believe these are very conservative estimates, that H.R. 1 would lead to 70,000 kids dying," USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah testified before the House Appropriations State and Foreign Ops subcommittee.

"Of that 70,000, 30,000 would come from malaria control programs that would have to be scaled back specifically. The other 40,000 is broken out as 24,000 would die because of a lack of support for immunizations and other investments and 16,000 would be because of a lack of skilled attendants at birth," he said.

It's worth noting that non-military foreign aid is just about the only category of spending a majority of Americans consistently favor cutting...

This is what I don’t get. The GOP messaging is terrible. These fools have jacked up spending in the trillions and now we are suddenly having trouble reducing a 1.5 trillion dollar deficit by less than 1%. How can we possibly not be winning this argument. I am days away from abandoning Boehner and Cantor permanently and starting a movement to replace with new leaders.

Failure to use DDT causes, IIRC, 2,000,000 deaths per year. Blame Libs.

So? If the funding continues, those 70,000 kids will just die of something else.

Only 70,000, hell with that.

We murder over 1,000,000 babies here in the USA every year.

When the foreign baby death toll exceeds 1,000,000 let me know.

These demonRATs come with the same bull shit story, kill the babies, kill the old folks, hurt the chilruns edekashun, no medicine, blah, blah.........

That´s rich coming from those who support the ongoing slaughter of 45,000,000+ babies, murdered in this country alone since 1973.

God help us all.

Something inside tells me many republicans are giddy at the thought of getting their hands on a budget of that size.

First, having enough dough to feed the beast means not having to deal with the substance of our institutional problems; and second, 3-4 trillion sure can buy alot of votes...

The fact that the poor benighted taxpayer is being enslaved by the state doesn't seem to cross their minds at all.

The United States federal government gives billions of US tax dollars a year to fund overseas abortions. The tax-dollars go to the largest abortion providers in the world — as long as they say “abortion is not a method of family planning.”

Ingar Brueggemann, the Director General of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), representing its 150 FPAs (Family Planning Associations) in 182 countries worldwide reiterates that, “It is a principal position of IPPF policy that abortion is not a method of family planning”, because money to “abortion as a method of family planning” is specifically prohibited by several governments and by the US government to USAID.

Instead it is euphemistically called “reproductive health services”, to evade the law.

“Reproductive health services should include: [list of 52 items including] Abortion-related Services, Management of complications, Post-abortion family planning, Improved sex education and family planning services where abortion is restricted, Abortion, and Family planning/methods.”

“USAID’s Population Program is one of the success stories in U.S. development assistance. Since the launch of the program in 1965, the percentage of couples in developing countries using contraception has risen from 10% to 50%, and the average number of children born to couples worldwide has dropped by a third.”

“Since its inception in 1965, USAID’s population program has been involved in all major innovations in international family planning. USAID has played a critical role in the development, evaluation or improvement of all modern methods of contraception.”

So, yeah. Dead babies unless USAID gets money to give to Planned Parenthood to kill babies. So what are the numbers?

Maybe, theoretically 70,000 dead.

Maybe again, tens of millions not aborted.

You mean there is still “Yellow Journalism?”

Say it isn't so.

We have very few “reporters” and a lot of “journalists.” The journalist today is a blogger in the print or TV media, that's it.
