Giants fan beaten at Dodger Stadium in coma, identified as paramedic

The Giants fan who was severely beaten at the end of the Dodgers home opener Thursday is a Santa Cruz paramedic and the father of two children.

Bryan Stow, 42, hit his head on the pavement during the attack and is in a medically induced coma, family members told the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

"He's not doing too well," brother-in-law David Collins told the paper. "He's still unconscious and they just decided to put him in a medically induced coma. They are hoping the brain swelling will go down, but it hasn't and they are talking about removing one of his frontal lobes."

The Los Angeles Police Department released sketches of two suspects in the attack.

Bless their little hearts they were just expressing the feelings of joy that accompanies “Reconquista!” The beatings and assaults will increase as more and more of our little friends realize just how incapable of resistance we are. As the Gaul said to the Roman: "Woe to the Conquered."

Absolutely. The “rivalry” has been nasty for some time now.

They cost us far too much to make cheap (read: slave) labor worth it.

Yes, and many of us have been making the same points for over 30 years. Cheap labor isn't cheap but the costs are dispersed across society so that the employers of cheap, illegal labor don't bear the total costs, the taxpayers do. This is why there are so many illegals in those states which have a big welfare structure. If an illegal comes across the border and lands a minimum wage labor job, in the very short term the employer might benefit from that person's labor. But when that same worker brings over or produces 5 or 6 kids who might just get citizenship, we have a very different situation. So the state (read taxpayer) has to pay for the schooling of the children and all the other social costs. If you check into the background of many of the gang members in California, you will find that many are the offspring of illegal immigrants. This is what's been happening in California and a number of other states in the last 40-50 years.

“But another point I’d like to make it that this idiotic Dodgers-Giants rivalry is totally out of control.”

It could be worse-what if they had never left NYC?;)

I went to the playoff game at Dodger Stadium in 2006 to see The Mets, clad in team gear. The only seats we could obtain were in the pavillion (bleachers). On my way to the restroom in the 7th inning, a hand grabbed me - LAPD. “If you’re going in there, put your hat in your pocket, and turn your jacket inside out”. A bit extreme, I thought, but I complied.

He saved my life.

Prayers up for this man and his family.

We may not win many championships in Houston, but things like this make me appreciate the fact that we have mostly polite, well-behaved sports fans.

Try that is San Francisco? Then what? After the beating go back to work at a hotel on Fisherman’s Wharf?

You have a bunch of lilly-white Gigantes(from their own jerseys) fans in the belly of the beast talking sh#t. What do you think would happen?

Well said.

And it is KILLING this state!!! (Along with public employees’ pensions and bennies - though at least that is not asymptotically growing, like the breeding illegals...)

My prayers for Bryan Stowe's family.
The most popular Professional sports have degenerated into what has been called "Thugball." I have no idea how, exactly, that evolved (nor do I care) but when the 'Tude spread from the players to a significan portion of the fans, it became a cultural corner I've learned to live without it for decades, now. Life is too short.

Had this been a Seattle Mariners game in Seattle, the attackers would be dead. In Washington, you are allowed to carry concealed.

I've been to exactly one game, and it was in Seattle- in the King Dome. I had to go- I was part of the halftime show. Long time ago, though.

My great grandpop played pro baseball, way back in the 1880s, IIRC. I am tempted to believe that things were different back then, but they had their raucous, over the top types then, too.

Two years ago my son (who was 23 at the time) got sucker punched by an Indians fan following a game in Detroit. He had his jaw broken.

About ten years ago, now, a co-worker's brother was murdered after leaving a game at Candlestick Park and stopping to use a pay phone to get directions. Not sure if the perps were ever found.

If the guy would have been carrying there would have been 2 dead Mexican thugs. Had it played out in that fashion and because Kafilfornia caters to anyone who isn't a wage earning Caucasian he would have gone to jail and the 2 dead thugs would be the victims. It was a lose lose for the victim as it were.

A Giants fan was murdered in the Dodger Stadium parking lot a couple years ago. You don’t see the gang element at AT&T Park. The crowd there is suburban and gentrified. The park stops selling beer in the 7th inning. Also, the parking lot is only 5,000 spaces, expensive, and mainly limited to season ticket holders. Most fans arrive by public transportation or park blocks away. You can’t make a quick getaway at AT&T Park. There is a strong security presence inside and around the park. AT&T Park is a first-class, fan-friendly operation.

In California, though we don’t have CCW in most of the state, we do have Open Carry, though it is rarely practiced. Time to start an Open Carry organization in L.A.

Orange County to the south doesnt have anywhere near these kind of problems. Maybe thats why the name the “’Los Angeles’ Angels of Anaheim” may not be such a bad idea.
