"... if I could do something about behavior that puts our troops at risk, I would...if I could hold people accountable, I would. But I know that we can’t."

Sure you can:

The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

Since 9/11 Congress can outlaw it whenever you want, liar.

But you know you better not... so you basely encourage a redefinition of the First Amendment.

In light of the Snyder v Phelps decision, it seems no speech or any form of expression is off limits. I think the FL pastor is a nut, but his actions are Constitutionally protected. Most of Afghan and the entire Muslim world is nothing but barbarians.

Sen. Graham and others, instead of talking about restrictions on what has become ‘speech’ might remind Americans of the famous WWII slogan, “Loose Lips Sink Ships.” Not so sure what would rhymes with matches.

That was a different world, where folks believed we were in a justifiable and, indeed, necessary war. Everyone’s family had a stake in the war, those wars weren’t fought just by volunteers, “other people’s” sons/husbands/fathers. Today it’s all to easy to have no sense that it is WE who are at war. I’d bet if you went to a Georgetown or Upper West Side cocktail party you would not find one person who has a child in the military, or even a friend or neighbor who has a child in the military.

Thanks. Everyone should go to that site and vote:

What is your reaction to Sen. Graham’s comments seeming to call for free speech restrictions?

He was wrong. Our Constitutional rights are not negotiable.
93%

He was correct 7%

The President commits our military to action without consulting anyone at all now. Isn’t that the definition of a military junta?

I hated to say it but isn’t it true?

Yes, you speak the truth.

First of all, what is his definition of “pushing back”?

Second, we would have lost WWII with clowns like this in charge.

The mad Muslims would never find out about this if our media didn't report it hundreds of times a day.

From the WSJ:

"Most Afghans learned about the Quran burning in Florida only when Mr. Karzai on March 24 (4 days after!) condemned the act as "a crime against the religion and the entire Muslim nation," called on the U.S. and the U.N. to bring the perpetrators to justice and demanded "a satisfactory response to the resentment and anger of over 1.5 billion Muslims around the world."

So who stirred it up? General Petraeus has certainly won his heart and mind. /s

Like General Petreus having our female troops wear muslim hijabs instead of K-pots.

I served in the military. With the people in charge today I would not serve.

Thanks. I just don’t know where this idea came from that we shouldn’t hurt our enemy’s feelings??? The enemy?

Would General Patreus also tell U.S. servicemembers not to shoot at the enemy, because it enrages them?

Gimme a break. Towel-heads are anti-Christian, and no one (including Lindseed) is proposing banning burning of the Bible. Killing babies before they're born bothers ME; will he propose that abortion be illegal?

Banning Free speech is a slippery slope. Once it starts it has no ending.

I don't blame you. And thank you for your service.

I did not serve but I don't accept the idea that those who haven't have no place giving their opinion. That would put quite a chill on who can speak since active duty personnel are heavily restricted in what they can say.

I wonder if Graham would be upset if I said people like him and Durbin are responsible for the koran burnings and the terrorism? Just as much truth, IMO.
