Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is set to introduce a bill Monday night to fund the military through September and fund government operations for one more week, Republican sources tell The Hill.
Boehner's move is intended to prevent a government shutdown that would start after Friday without another measure to fund the government.
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) said the GOP was trying to prevent a government shutdown "at all costs."
“We’re serious about trying to prevent a government shutdown. We’re also serious about cutting spending," he told reporters after a meeting of the GOP conference on Monday evening.
Boehner told GOP lawmakers attending a closed-door conference meeting that he needed “leverage” going into a meeting with President Obama and Senate Democratic leaders at the White House on Tuesday morning, a lawmaker told The Hill.
“He said he needs this (the as-of-yet-introduced bill) and the support of the conference going into that meeting at the White House, because he feels it gives him more leverage,” the source explained to The Hill.

yes like the military but is symbolic as funding for the essential part of government wouldn’t stop in the so called “shutdown.”
i really hope you’re right. that boehner wins. but unless he’s gone as speaker, i don’t have much hope at this point after three months.
so, i’m making all my personal family, financial plans and preparations for a loss at this point. it’s the only rational approach for me.
america is on life support, but 2 years ago. it was dead. history or a divine wind could give us a game changer. pray. and keep faxing boehner and the repubs.

I've personally been hearing this same crap about cutting government from the GOP for twenty years but government spending and power always seems to increase even when they control the entire Federal government. The most sickening thing are excuses from your average dim-bulb Republican as to why its actually raining on our collective back and we have just got to vote for the R's or those devilish D's will really sink us. Puh-lease. When are these suckers going to realize the purpose of the GOP is to mollify conservatives and waste all their political energies on utterly trivial matters while the real work of creating a One World Government goes on unabated.

The bill the House passed didn’t touch the 109 billion Obamacare bucks. It only defunded the minuscule discretionary portion of Obamacare spending.
having read approximately 1/2 of the comments here I wonder what ever became of “constructive criticism”.
You must be using Washington math. Boehner, Ryan, et all are all blowing smoke.. Year-to-year spending by the Federal government is increasing every year. There are NO cuts, only accounting gimmicks. When the absolute spending (adjusted for "real" inflation) is reduced year-to-year, then one can say cuts are happening. Until then, it's all B.S.
If QE3 happens, everyone will quickly see how fragile is the house of cards built by the elites in D.C.

That would sure be nice, but unfortunately the Supreme Court is so unpredictable anymore that one just never knows how it’s going to rule on any given issue.
Basically, it’s all going to come down to Justice Kennedy’s opinion. Even though he leans conservative, I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if the left is currently working behind the scenes to illegally bribe him with some backdoor “Cornhusker Kickback” type deal.
Smart thing would be to stop trying to pass a comprehensive budget for the rest of the year.
Instead, work on seperate budgets for each Federal department. (Department of Defense, State Department, Department of Commerce, etc, etc, etc).
Then, push the ‘departmental’ spending bills that contain the least cuts out for passage first (like for the DoD). Since Democraps hate to cut spending *EVER*, they won’t have a problem voting for the spending bills.
But then, the ‘departmental’ spending bills for departments that really shouldn’t even exist will be left... and all the money from the previous ‘temporary’ spending bill will have been exhausted.
So when the Democrats scream that the Republicans have shut down the government, the Republicans can point to the fact that Federal departments are fully funded (just not all of them... heh heh). That would blunt the Democrat’s propaganda weaponry.
And it would force the Democrats to seriously come to the negotiating table for substantial talks... as if they don’t, their pet projects simply won’t be reauthorized for funds (since they *ALREADY* ran out of the money). Though, if they don’t, then the Republicans will have met the dreams of the TEA party, which was to seriously cut the deficit and shrink the size of the government.
And if all the spending bills for the Federal departments that Democraps favor aren’t negotiated out, then they are shut down... shrinking government and cutting spending.
It’s a win-win no matter what the Democraps do.

That’s just it. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe any of the budget cuts resulting from the Continuing Resolutions make any cuts to the appropriations you’ve mentioned.
