Can we get an alternative to Fox News, now?
Dangus ^ | 4-6-11 | dangus

I'm not the sort to bash on Fox News. It is what it is, and what it is is the creation of a man, Rupert Murdoch, who likes liberals, but loves money even more, and who has cleverly positioned Fox News to appeal to conservatives and draw lightning from the Left, but credibly root for Barrack Obama's victory over even the most left-leaning Republican in all of Washington.

Or, maybe you disagree with that characterization. But isn't it just a little freaky that every oar the Republicans have in the mainstream media is one boat, and that boat is the creator of "The Family Guy." And "American Dad." And "Glee." And a relentless torrent of other conservative-hating TV shows?

How liberal Murdoch is or isn't isn't really the point. It's that there are no alternatives. As monolithically liberal as CNN seemed, isn't incredible that it keeps shedding the most conservative (or at least moderate) hosts and steering harder and harder to the left? Think about it: CNN used to have Lou Dobbs AND Glenn Beck. And Glenn Beck was too conservative for Fox News.

But just think about the power-house line-up a conservative cable network could attract, from the far right to the colorful outside-the-box mavericks: Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage, Pat Buchanan, Jerry Doyle, Lou Dobbs, Fred Grandy.

Come on, Rush... You know you want to...

I’ll be done with them.

You don’t have to watch TV.

FWIW Fox Business is much better than Fox News.

The only thing I watch on Fox is Beck.

Without Beck, I don’t bother to tune them in at all.

If Beck decides to start his own network, and he can line up the kind of talent you list, I’m there, and no doubt several million other Americans are there too. There is a hunger for news we can trust. Fox tapped it by being just a little to the right of the far left. Beck could tap it by just being honest and lining up talent that is likewise just honest.

I saw Karl Rove last night spouting the “conventional wisdom” that Michelle Bachmann can’t win a presidential race because she’s “just a representative”.

I hate to tell him but I think the days of that kind of thinking are over.

yah...I spend far more time watching Fox Business these days rather than any of the daytime hosts on Fox News. The only regular show on Fox News I watch is Special Report.

I would like to “see” what makes the left think faux nooz is so “right wing”. Those who think it must be on an msnbc diet.

I would love to see the tea party network with all the players mentioned plus a black contingent that would knock the socks off the average RINO, and educate the masses that it isn’t about black, white, brown, yellow, pink, green, red, and purple, but about being American.

Being the entrepreneur he is, I would have to think that if Murdoch thought he could get better ratings (i.e. higher ad revenue) on more conservative entertainment fare, he would do so.

What some people fail to realize is that even their sacred hosts may not walk the walk. There is such thing as on-screen persona.

Like politicians, many are just whores catering to a particular clientele.

Ditto. No Beck, no FNC. We're counting the days...

"Rupert Murdoch, who likes liberals, but loves money even more"

And let's not forget that he married a ChiCom. She's a real piece of work too.

“FWIW Fox Business is much better than Fox News.”

That’s what I hear. I’ll have to try watching that channel.

For now, I prefer to use my FR Decoder Ring. ; )

I stopped watching FNC (aka RINOvision) a couple of months ago and have been much happier.

FNC is like Dick Lugar - how far can you go in p!ssing off conservatives without totally losing them.
