Jerry Brown: California, Country Facing ‘Regime Crisis’ Similar To The Civil War
CBS LosAngeles ^ | April 10, 2011 | losangeles.cbslocal.com/Dave Bryan

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — While Washington averted a government shutdown this week, California Governor Jerry Brown continues with his budget battles.

The governor may feel like he’s in a recurring nightmare these days. Everywhere he turns with a proposed budget fix it gets shot down.

“If we don’t get taxes, if we don’t get cuts, we’re gonna have a hard time balancing the budget,” Brown said. “Many of the Republicans told me, ‘We’re not taxing and we’re not cutting. It’s your job — you’re the governor.’”

But Republicans who show up to protest at many of the governor’s events these days say it’s Brown who’s not living up to his words.

“Fix it, Governor Brown, and I’ll be the first person that would be more than happy to give you money,” said Robert Ledbetter, who was protesting outside one of Brown’s events.

California Republican Party Vice Chair Steven Baric says Brown is not showing he’s much of a leader.

“He promised he would show true leadership and he’s failing to do that. And if he wants to show true leadership let’s have true pension reform,” Baric said.

this weekend, CBS 2/KCAL 9 political reporter Dave Bryan asked Governor Brown about the criticisms:

DB: Many of the Republicans I talk to say that they’re not convinced that you’re serious about pension reform and about cutting the slack in government, cutting the bureaucracy down. They feel that you haven’t put forward, for example, a meaningful pension reform plan because of your connection to the unions.

JB: They have to say that to give cover to their position, which is ‘No’. Their position is ‘No, we’re not going to help you. We’re not going to do anything. Well, that’s unacceptable. I did propose 12 points of pension reform.

The governor tells Dave he believes the country hasn’t been this divided since the Civil War.

This week Brown has been using Civil War metaphors at his public events to describe the deep divisions in California, and the entire country for that matter, preaching with the passion of a born-again that the country is dangerously polarized.

“We are at a point of civil discord, and I would not minimize the risk to our country and to our state. It is not trivial. I’ve been around a long time, I’m a student of history, I’m a student of contemporary politics. We are facing what I would call a ‘regime crisis.’ The legitimacy of our very democratic institutions are in question,” he said.

I get the impression the metro area is actually in Mexico.

I know some out here desperately want this to only be about California. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

It must be stated again and again, even in your so-called *red* states like Texas, at Dallas Parkland Hospital, the majority who gave birth at Parkland are illegal aliens...that comes to about 12,000 anchor babies born every year just at this one hospital in Dallas.

This is costing the tax payers billions in Texas and hundreds of billions across the U.S.

Now I know I will be attacked for saying this about a so-called conservative state, but it need to be repeated over and over, as we already know what occurs in "liberal" states.

I still maintain, is that it's inappropriate to use someone else's forum (which is their personal property) to run your own pet crusade.

Mommy, he's saying bad things about Texas again...Make him stop!!

((Why don't call the moderator and complain?))

A few numbers to ponder.

The American revolution was only supported by 30 percent of the population.

Over approx. 60 percent of California’s total population is non- mexican( I know it does’t seem that way)White,Black,Indian,Asian.

Of the 16 million Hispanics in the state , roughly 9 million are legal it is estimated that the majority of these will support the removal of illegals.
I have a number of hispanics in my family and they support my last statement.

Most of the illegal Mexican would flee home if the sitution turn “hot” for them in california.

When I say hot I mean:
NO citizenship for their children( enforce 14th
amendment)
No medical,No housing , No welfare,no education for their children.

The overwhelming majority would leave on their own.

A civil war would never be necessary if the state leaders would support their citizens and not foreign nationals.

You know, it’s sort of entertaining watching someone’s head explode in public, but embarrassing, all the same.

Feel free to comment on the article, as opposed to making me the topic and issue. You’re whining and crying is becoming very tiresome.

Well, I tried to, but you're not having any part of that.

You are so disingenuous.

You *only* appeared on this thread after I made this comment below to another poster:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ He (Brown) already did - sued AZ to stop enforcement of SB1070.

And in so-called conservative states, at major hospitals such as Parkland hospital in Dallas Texas, they are churning out nearly 1000 anchor babies per month...At just one single hospital, while millions of illegals are collecting tax paid welfare benefits.

Those aiding and abetting this seem to be everywhere. No?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Then you launched in about how bad illegal immigration is in CA. As if we didn't know, and as if your own state is not over run with illegals collecting welfare, with a violent war spilling over your state border.

When confronted with obvious facts, you again go back to your MO, attempting to make *me* the issue. Anyone can read back.

Then you deny it.

Pathetic.

In fact, you are the same one that said I was not conservative, and was operating outside this sites rules by posting articles from Texas news sources, regarding Texas debt, illegals, etc, articles that had never been poster previously.

You deny this?

The bottom line with you is, you don't want anyone to say anything or post any articles about Texas you don't approve of.

And when that occurs, you come out crying and whining with allegations of "It's against the rules and you must be a liberal troll".

I've got your number slick.

Interesting. I do believe this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone hijack their own thread.

Brother, you really ought to take a walk or something. You’re fighting all by yourself.

Later.

Ya see, unlike you, I'm man enough to admit, even the lying leftist Jerry Brown was absolutely correct when he stated:

This week Brown has been using Civil War metaphors at his public events to describe the deep divisions in California, and the entire country for that matter, the country is dangerously polarized.

“We are at a point of civil discord, and I would not minimize the risk to our country and to our state

You have again attempted to suggest or imply here it's only California in dire straits, when in reality, it's the *entire* U.S., including Texas, which is having multi-billion dollar budget issues, is also over run with illegals, not to mention a war on your state border.

I admit it...See, that wasn't so hard....lol

“Actually it is about $10 billion in Kalifornia.”

IOW a significant fraction of the budget deficit is due to illegal immigrant benefits, once voted to be illegal in Proposition 187.

Probably a lot of the people who voted YES on Prop. 187 have subsequently moved out of the state, because the ballot doesn’t work anymore.

Issue after issue gets voted on, only to be overturned by judges.

That was not part of our constitution.

Three years ago it was exactly the amount of the budget gap. The retirement situation has made it worse.

“Three years ago it was exactly the amount of the budget gap. The retirement situation has made it worse.”

Yeah, and not to mention major corporations moving Hq. out of California.

—Fluor Corporation

—Fidelity National title

—Northrup Grumann

And probably many, many others.

The effect is loss of corporate taxes, and many very highly paid workers, who paid taxes and generated economic activity.

Brown has his hands filled, and occasionally he lets the truth slip out.

Even in Orange County the one time abundance of beautiful blonds and fair skinned girls at the beach has been displaced by lotsa black haired frumps.

That is a metric few will grasp.

Every time I travel to the LA area

I moved from Modesto to Tulsa in 2006. The same can practically be said here too. I refuse to go to the mall on weekends.

Parasites often kill their hosts, then simply "move on" to new hosts. It's when they run out of hosts that they have a problem. In California's case, a lot of hosts are simply leaving the state. There aren't enough left.
