The Romney clan was in Mejico so they could pursue polygamy, up through the 1920s and perhaps beyond.
i used to be okay with romney. then he started to get annoying. but now he’s just really pissing me off.
It may be absurd, but it is the law, i.e., jus solis.
Whatever Romney’s other agendas, this argument (Obama is natural-born because of his mother) is exactly what the other side of any legal challenge will argue. I doubt any such case will get anywhere by 2012, but who knows. No matter the results of 2012 it will effectively be moot thereafter.
Given the composition of the Supreme Court, should this question get tried in 2012 I expect the court will back the Romney argument. And some of the conservatives, maybe even most of them, will back Obama. It won’t be close. And that will be that.
Whatever considerations and principles being bandied about here, they are only relevant as part of an argument before the Supremes, not as established law.
The best part of any case that is brought up before the Supremes (unlikely as it may be), will be when Obama will be forced to disclose all the information he has been concealing. I think the outcome would be a foregone conclusion in his favor, but the means of getting it will be embarassing.
Team Mitt now senses danger from a surging Donald. They must and will attack from all angles. They cannot allow Mitt to lose potential supporters to The Donald.
That Team Romney is a nasty bunch.
Mitt needs to read the immigration laws of the 1960’s which applies to Obama. One can argue that Obama’s US citizenship cannot be taken away by his parent (assuming the court’s rule one US parent is sufficient for citizenship) and Obama has till the age of 21 to reclaim if his adopted father made him an Indonesian citizen. But at that point he is reclassified as natural born to naturalized citizen (even if he is born in Hawaii). Thus Obama has two issues, place of birth and when he re entered the US to live with his grandparents did he get reclassified by the immigration laws of that time as naturalized versus natural born??? According to the laws he should have re entered as a naturalized citizen. Unfortunately all those records are sealed unless someone with standing starts a lawsuit to access it. If Trump becomes a candidate he has standing to sue and see the records and BC.
This lack of legal mechanism is dangerous because if all of the political class (GOP lack of courage, and Dems motivated by ruthless desire to win) can select foreign citizens or underaged charismatic candidates and ignore the US Constitution. Remember if one part of the Constitution can be ignored that means the ruling class can choose to ignore other parts. Before liberals celebrate, remember the sword of abuse can swing either way!!!
Still, the Romney family lawyer is WRONG.
That's because if we accept that Barak Obama Sr. was the baby daddy, and if he were born in Kenya, then his mother hadn't been a resident of the United States "after the age of 14" to qualify to confer young Barak with citizenship.
That was the 1961 law.
At the same time if Obama's baby daddy was actually Stanley Lee's father, then he's a "natural born citizen" ~ that being the state of the law in 1961.
Men and women were treated differently under the law back then.
Still, if he were born in Canada, there are other permutations on the theme, and if he were born in Washington State rather than Hawaii, we need to know the name of the doctor!
So many riddles; so many enigmas; such a puzzle!

Romney’s lawyers who told him this are probably the same team that advised him there was nothing he could do about gay marriages.
Fascinating. Followers to these folks were recently attacked by a cartel outside of Chihuahua. A Mormon leader was slain in front of his home. Romney could be the President who makes northern Mexico a prime operational outpost for the military. He’s got the history for it. And we are definitely making the moral case these last few years.

And his father was a British subject (and a communist) so he’s NOT a natural born citizen, has dual citizenship and does not bear absolute allegiance to the U.S. per our founding fathers, and is EXACTLY what they feared. And he demonstratively proves daily that he bears no allegiance whatsoever to the U.S. Constitution.
Personally I think Allen West is our only hope.

West speaks to a crowd of about 400 at Tuesday night's town hall meeting in Jupiter.
“Who is going to tell us who this man is? Is he legally there or not?” said Karch. “What are we going to do to ensure that, if he isn’t legally there, it doesn’t happen again?”
Said West: “I will tell you this: That is the dog chasing its tail. The most important thing is, it’s the policies. That’s what we have to be standing on.”
The crowd of about 400 applauded, but Karch wasn’t satisfied.
“But if he’s not, it’s treason,” Karch said.
Said West: “You will waste more time worrying yourself to death about that instead of making sure that you expand the majority in the House of Representatives, you win back the U.S. Senate so that you can stand against the policies that are emanating out of the White House…
“What is your objective? Your objective is getting back to a constitutional republic principles and values. If you spend your time worrying about someone’s citizenship, you will never get to that objective.”
West didn’t offer his own opinion on Obama’s citizenship during the public forum. So PostOnPolitics asked him after the meeting.
“He is a citizen. He’s the president. I mean, that’s all I know. I am concerned about his policies,” West said.
