First and foremost, folks have to understand that the crap is about to hit the fan. If the general public gets this.. then Congress can be swayed. Ultimately, the failure of the latest round in the Budget process was because the Overton Window.. is not where people are trying to avoid an immediate crisis. They are all still thinking we can play at this for years to come.. even as the storm approaches.
As far as Congress goes, all of them. Other than the passionate communists, we know where they live. They are our neighbors and our friends and relatives. At some point, they all hear the screams. Witness the quick passing of the extension of the current tax rates.. in the tank or not.. once a national will crystallizes all but the stupidest ideologue sees that they will be fired for not listening.
If folks say no more borrowing, they will deal, but this has to be serious and not coming from a few people whining on the periphery.
How would anyone in the United States be able to tell the difference?

Or similarly, the house should raise the debt ceiling by about $200B at a time attaching major cuts to each house bill, leaving it to Democrats to reject the bills and cause the collapse if they want. If the House passes no bill at all (not even for looks) then Republicans will get the blame for any collapse and Pelosi would likely be the next Speaker.
It was only a few months ago Republicans were saying if we didnt remove Pelosi as Speaker in 2011 we would all die (or something similarly terrible sounding ) so I see no point in deciding to bring her back so soon (especially after just a few months) since we decided to bump her out. Just my view.

It will not matter how many people speak up and say no to raising the debt ceiling, it will happen and as you have shown it will result in America being lost. There will be no 2012 Tea Party victory, and no going back. Get ready for hard times.

Republicans, Patriots and all American's who can must explain the real crisis to the rest of America who should know better. You can't keep borrowing past what you can pay.. and if you end up writing checks to deposit to pay checks trying to use several accounts to cover the fact that none of the accounts has any money, they put you in jail. This is what the Fed is doing with QE2. If the Debt Ceiling is raised. There won't be anyone to borrow this money either.. so the Fed will print more, QE3.
Understand, Pelosi doesn't enter into the picture. 2012 seems like 2 years away, and this crap is coming in the next few months..
I agree with you, we are being systematically bankrupted. Even the Fed Chairman believes that he can just keep printing money, lower interest rates beyond zero, and keep on rolling the debt over by buying our own debt and creating currency out of thin air to pay it back with.
The damage that has been done already goes beyond description and very few people here or in this country fully understand how serious this actually is!
So you are saying that if Boehner proudly stands up and tells America that there will be no House debt limit bill at all, that as of now the US budget is balanced and no matter what short term negative consequences result the voters will appreciate it and return Republicans, not Pelosi, to power?

I don’t care about global anything. What I want is to stop this madness in spending and stop it cold. I want to face the pain NOW and not pass it to my beloved grandchildren. NOT ONE MORE CENT OF DEBT!!

I am saying the next address where a Republican gets to follow the President with a National Speech, the explain what the end of "Reserve Currency" status means and that we have been printing money to pay our debts for the last 6 months and we cannot do this anymore. So, they will provide for payments of existing debts but not allow for issuance of any further debt until spending cuts are made because the very security and future are at stake and we must face this now.. even if the Democrats aren't serious.
The Chicoms themselves say almost daily they are afraid of their own inflation and are trying to throttle back on money growth. They are losing their cheap labor advantage on almost a daily basis and that has them spitting rice balls. Just this past month their balance of trade with us US went barely slightly negative ( one billion out of 400) ——not much but it’s a start. I don’t see yet that a Chicom blowup is imminent but their numbers are clearly, by their own admission, sliding. And the Japanzee nuc/tidal wave disaster is hurting the Chicoms also. It has really bitten their auto production among other things. They’ve earned their own bubble fair and square.
