In 35 seconds, the city of Léogane was almost entirely destroyed by last years earthquake. A year after, 80% of the victims are still living in camps surrounded by rubble, without water or electricity. Despite millions in international aid, the rebuilding process is at a standstill.

Bill Clinton Global Initiative has a fiduciary duty problem in Haiti. How can Clinton carry his fiduciary duty for CIRH while managing CGI?
The CIRH shall work to optimize the investments and approve all project proposals. Bill Clinton must carry his fiduciary duty for CIRH while managing CGI which gathers government officials, business leaders, and nonprofits from all over the world, creating opportunities for them to collaborate; and as chairman he must account for all funds received or disbursed on behalf of Haiti. Clinton cannot disclose to third parties any facts about Haiti that are not in Haiti's best interest.
Journalist Alexandra RENARD reports to France24: Haiti has the greatest # of 10,000 NGO's [non-governmental organizations] with an important role to play, but are making the housing worse, and all of Haiti is living on a drip she says. Haitians are told they are going to get housing, they are going to get water, so the Haitians don't do much for themselves living in camps, in tents with crime, rapes etc. Haitians haven't had much luck with dictators, Alexandra Renard adds, travel disasters last year, hurricane, cholera, first round of presidential elections back in November with only 20% participation because of the disasters.
In April, Haitian officials then in place and international donors touted a new paradigm of economic development in Haiti:
rather than funding aid through foreign NGOs, donors looked to the Haitian government would determine priorities and plans and pledged to channel more aid through the public sector.
But these candidates in place were not much trusted by the local population; and it is very doubful that someone can hold the country together and move forward, concludes Renard.
Meanwhile a scheduled U.S. private sector fund raiser?:
Star 'legends' won't be there

A lavish, star-studded charity weekend in support of Haiti has the boldfaces running the other way instead.
The "Celebrities for Haiti Legends Weekend" says in online promos and PowerPoint presentations that it will be held at the Punta Cana Hard Rock Hotel in the Dominican Republic on April 29 and has "invited performers" scheduled to play a beachfront concert, including Justin Timberlake, Eminem, Marc Anthony and Jon Bon Jovi. But reps for the talent had never heard of the event and were up in arms to learn the charity was using their clients' names to lure donations.
Jill Zarin [Real Housewives of NYC] actually offered her name to support the charity and filmed a promotional video for it. The Real Housewife [NYC] cast member said: "A friend of mine asked me to support a charity to raise money for Haiti, and that the Hard Rock Casino in Punta Cana was sponsoring the event. When we found out that was not the case, I withdrew my name and support."[OOPS!] The charities included the Haiti Project and Global Syndicate, neither of which got back to us about their involvement."
There is something inheritently wrong with the world’s Blackocracies. Have they adopted the “Entitlement Mentality” of their brethren in America?
Japan will be back to normal way before Haiti ever will. And, I have not seen the “Concert for Japan” yet
Haiti: When Will Rebuilding Began?
How do you feel?
Even after you were promised it would go to the people of Haiti, the children, the rebuilding of homes for those who had nothing before and even less today ............. Remember the builder in Florida who employed Haitian workers and offered to build homes from Shipping Containers?
The Toronto builder, who offered to construct plastic homes expected to cost less, be stronger, and more environment-friendly - GREEN even!!

Sarah Palin visits crisis-hit Haiti:
Sarah Palin says residents of refugee camp 'are so full of joy', during visit tightly stage-managed by Christian relief group.
Samaritan's Purse has been accused during other humanitarian crises of putting its evangelical mission ahead of more tangible assistance to those in need. The organisation raises large sums of money from US Christians but the proceeds are not always visible on the ground.
During the 1994 Rwandan refugee crisis, Samaritan's Purse was criticised by other aid organisations for spending large amounts on luxury accommodation for its staff and providing only minimal assistance as tens of thousands of people died of cholera. That assistance principally consisted of sending stretcher bearers to carry the sick for treatment as a third person ran alongside the victim reading passages from the Bible. More.
Feel Used Yet???
Many of those countries (though not Haiti) are very young; they only seem viable (at least economically) when they have strongmen in power (even Haiti’s tourism did well under the Duvaliers).
It’s Haiti, not Japan.
Not letting a catastrophy go to waste, lots of folks have made millions off the Haiti relief efforts.
The only thing that would have worked would have been our military going in and taking over, and our engineers clear the roads and restore the infrastructure and provide protection for the private charities.
As I understand it, much aid was prevented from reaching the people unless bribes were paid to the corrupt officials.
Unless we are prepared to take over and make a nation such as this a colony, then there is nothing we can do to help them.
The people themselves need bring about reform but that is like telling someone with cancer they have to operate on themselves. They may not have the knowledge or skills to do so, and even if they did it would be deadly to try.
We could help these nations, but the help required is politically incorrect, so real people suffer but at least they are not being ruled by outsiders.
Clinton set up the foundation to make moola for Clinton, not to rebuild Haiti. That’s what foundations are for.
Laying arounbd waiting for the Honkies to build it back for them.
Well, we do agree on that.
“The only thing that would have worked would have been our military going in and taking over, and our engineers clear the roads and restore the infrastructure and provide protection for the private charities.”
Brown & Root, Bechtel and Kiewit could put Haiti back together in 24 months, not all of them together, just one of them alone. Make it a hard money job, and stand back.
Cop Out...! a cop out for the NGO's, because they know they can get away with failure--because its to be expected that it is the the poor Haitians fault who had no government til this month.
Sean Penn has done a better job! Yes, the man we on the Right love to hate. Penn has remained in Haiti, laboring not sitting in committees.. "The United Nations, in particular, earns Penns wrath. He said the amount were getting done, versus what theyre doing which is nothing. Quite honestly, if you want something done, do it yourself.[and I have never been a fan of Pen]. Penn was promised $1 million from an entrepreneur, (the J in J/P HRO).." most of the money never materialized and he ended up spending chunks of his own.
Homeless victim: "Stay in the House. Leave--but I don't know where to go." Housing officer [on camera]: "I would ask for a new home for her, I told you I would re-house you, you will turn everyone against me, haven't I been nice to you? I will find a new home for you my sweet! Don't worry."
The homeless have not received anything but tarps from the NGOs. The NGO's are said to have No common plan. No coordination from the CIRH, CGI Chaired by Bill Clinton who's job it is to manage all the money in the best interest of the Haitian people, but also decides who "gets the deal".
Today in Sunday Funnies the WSJ reports Secretary Clinton Announces Partnership to Help Japan - Clinton pledged to support private sector and government initiatives to bolster the Japanese economy. Neither provided details about what that public-private partnership would entail. However, the two top diplomats were joined at the meeting by representatives from big business.
What a bunch of pollitical show boaters...all the politicians show up for the media shot as Palin did above, then back to the US. None of these people, Palin included, have done anything to help anyone, the US taxpayer especially. They all talk a good game telling you what you want to hear--The Donald included who quacks just like all the other ducks. He quacked about Bush, Rumsfeld and the Republicans, now he quacks about Obama and the Democrats.
Look at the world in complete chaos financially and socially and tell me..It's just______________________[any country will do].
I don’t hate Penn.
When you have one thief in power, he has an incentive for the country to be prosperous, so that there is more to steal. He also has an incentive to suppress minor thieves, because they steal from HIS supply of loot.
When you have thousands of thieves (bureaucrats, warlords, whatever you call them), their incentive is to steal what they can before some other thief steals it, with the result that they wreck the system that produces the wealth they steal.
It needs to razed down to nothing. Push all the debris into the sea. Forcible deport all the people around the world. It will be a gigantic waste of money to put one brick on another until the island is rejuvenated to be able to grow crops again, sustain top soil, able to grow trees, to be able to sustain a population
This is a perfect job for the UN to handle. First building build should be a brand new UN headquarters
B I N G O !
How do you say CORRUPTION? France should move in—take over—and establish reforms—that or the USA. WHY should the US do such a thing? Because if we do not the population will simply move to the us and go on welfare—A little tough love and follow up would save millions.
