Jesse Jackson, Jr. blames the iPad for ‘eliminating thousands of American jobs’ Daniel Keylin - The Daily Caller 41 mins ago

On Friday, Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-Ill.) took the House floor and lambasted Apple’s iPad, saying the tablet was “probably responsible for eliminating thousands of American jobs.”

Jackson expressed general outrage over the potential of a paperless society that the iPad threatens to create. “What becomes of publishing companies and publishing company jobs? What becomes of bookstores and libraries, and all of the jobs associated with paper? Well, in the not-too-distant future, such jobs simply won’t exist,” he said.

The congressman, who earlier in the speech admitted to being an iPad owner, criticized Apple CEO Steve Jobs for producing the tablets in China, which he believes is contributing to the nation’s unemployment problem and preventing the nation from achieving “sustained full production.”

However, Jackson’s recent rant on the iPad seems to contradict statements he made just last month.

“How many people would be put to work building roofs and designing classrooms and providing every student with an iPod and a laptop?” Jackson said during a March 2nd House floor speech.

And what about all those bicycle messengers in New York, who used to charge through the red lights without even looking to right or left? What about them?

Jesse is partially right. The Internet that was invented by Al Gore has resulted in Millions of jobs leaving the USA as computers have made it possible for hard working citizens of the world to compete for jobs with US companies.

Our US companies have moved their jobs overseas to avoid Unionization, Taxation, EPA, OSHA, DOL and many other government organiztions that drive up the cost of doing business in the USA. Sad thing when America is not a nation of TAKERS and not workers. We have far too many folks living on the handouts and that is a result of people like Jesse Jackson JR and SR.

If the USA was smart they would outsouce the IRS to India...

Yes the Ipad has helped to create the possibilities of people in other parts of the world doing the jobs that were once American.

Welcome to Obummer’s world.

he’s a lumberjack and that’s not ok with him.

if the ipad opens up more opportunities for americans to do business, even if the dead tree industry suffers, maybe it’s a fair swap.

Well, Junior is just going to have to get his peeps on the ball and learn to use IPADS.

I never saw a computer until I was around 42 years old, yet dived into it became a systems analyst and application developer.

You either try to keep up, or fall by the wayside. It's what America is all about. But Junior probably wants an "Ipad Bailout" for all his peeps that are displaced by technology.

Well I blame the iPad for causing Dunder Mifflin to go under. :)

I’m not an Apple fan, but from a whacko lefty perspective (IOW, Jackson’s point of view) wouldn’t killing the paper industry be a GOOD thing? Won’t it help stop “global warming” and save the spotted owls to boot?

What a clueless nimrod ol' Jesse be! These are the exact same arguments spouted back in the 1960's when computers first became affordable for small and medium sized businesses.

Instead, paper consumption shot up in tandem with computer introduction. Partly because companies wanted paper back-up. Mostly because computer printouts generated misprints, impressive looking reports which soon became scrap and scrap from the get-go at a then unprecedented rate. It has long since been surpassed, mostly for the same reasons.

Like most libtards, ol' Jesse is still stuck on stupid. And still stuck in the 1960's.

What bothers me is the control that can be exhibited when books are released only electronically.

As for counter jobs, that is going out with the counter culture, maybe?

Serf the net.
