Crystal Mangum indicted for boyfriend's death (DukeLax false accuser)
The (Raleigh) News & Observer ^ | April 18, 2011 | Jesse James Deconto

Posted on 04/18/2011 12:51:01 PM PDT by abb

A grand jury has indicted Crystal Mangum in the murder of her boyfriend Reginald Daye.

She was accused of stabbing her boyfriend, Reginald Daye, during an argument. Police were dispatched to 3507 Century Oaks Drive at 3:15 a.m. April 3, and found Daye stabbed in the torso. Daye, 46, died last Wednesday at Duke Hospital, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael has said.

Mangum, the woman at the center of the Duke University lacrosse scandal five years ago, is in the Durham County jail. She originally faced a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Her bail is set at $300,000.

Five years ago, Mangum accused members of the Duke lacrosse team of sexually assaulting her while she was working as a stripper for an escort service. The accusations were eventually labeled as false, and the case was dismissed by state Attorney General Roy Cooper. The case garnered nationwide attention.

Since the spring night in 2006 when Duke lacrosse players hired her to strip at a team party, Mangum has been in and out of courtrooms and social services offices.

Mangum made headlines again last year when Durham police charged her with felony arson, child abuse, vandalism and resisting a law-enforcement officer.

Mangum was convicted of child abuse, vandalism and resisting an officer

She’s done enough damage for at least two or three lifetimes.

The gift that keeps on giving — I'd as soon pass on this one.

AP: “Crystal Mangum was indicted on a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of larceny.”

I’ve wondered why a mortally wounded Reginald Daye went to his nephew’s apartment to seek help, but if Crystal Mangum stole Mr. Daye’s cellphone as she fled that would explain it and hurt her when mitigating circumstances time comes.

Dating this lying drunk stripper whore must be like dating Lorena Bobbit.

I actually had more sympathy with Lorena than John, once I found out that he had forced her to have an abortion. She came from a culture where babies are valued, and at the time she was afraid the abortion had made her sterile. (It actually didn't.)

The leftist media will talk all day about John's two-timing, drunkenness, and what they call "spousal rape", but they really don't want to mention the abortion above a whisper. But, iirc, the penis incident occurred within several days of an important anniversary — whether it was the abortion itself, or the baby's due date, etc., I don't remember. The emotional disturbances of an aborting mother are often more pronounced at such times.

I'm just sayin'....

I’ve had to deal with reporters personally in my life.
I only have respect for one, and he’s local to my area.
Beyond that, reporters have no spine.

Hey, they're writers, what d'ya want from them?

I think that the overwhelming percentage of "reporters" are people who want to write books for a living, and are either too limited, talent-wise, or too lazy, to do so.

They aren't fighters at all. They want to sit at a desk, type words into a computer, and make a comfortable living doing so.

They don't realize that the profession of "journalist" is one of the most demanding; it requires a lot of courage, character, and energy to get the story that no one wants you to get. That is, after all, what the public would actually pay for.

Or maybe they do realize it, just too late. By the time they realize it, they've got no other career options; they're locked in to their path. Ta-da! Another mediocre hack journalist is born. After a few years, they're just re-writing press releases from the DNC and sending them off to their editors under their own by-line. Of course, the RNC produces press releases too, but hey, they're biased, you know?

Pretty much the run down of what I’d experienced directly from reporters.

He wasn’t a scumbag or a pimp .

He was a good guy. I have yet to read one bad thing about him. No arrests, no record. He may have been too trusting as it has beesn said he believed in second chances.

She didn’t take out one of her own.

(not flaming, I just don’t want any misperception about his character.)

It needs to catch up with Broadhead. I’m not too happy with Coach K over his hunkering down, either. I lost a lot of respect for him.

Where’s the “Rev.” Sharpton screaming “no justice, no peace”?

This murder is on Nifong’s head. He’s the one who made Mangum think she could get away with anything—even murder.
