Trump is a Gateway Candidate
Vanity | April 20th, 2011 | Vanity

Posted on 04/20/2011 8:35:07 PM PDT by wizard61

Trump is a Gateway Candidate for disgruntled Obama supporters who cannot bring themselves to move directly to the GOP. Trump is draining support from Obama and making it cool to bash the President. Trump is not a political hack, nor is he a racist, nor is he an extremist.

Don’t give me that crap.

If your party nominates someone who adheres to America’s most important core principles I may well consider supporting them.

If they don’t, you can go jump into the cesspool with the Democrats. I don’t care.

But don’t try and bully me with your coercive scare tactics. I’m sick of it. These stupid puerile games are destroying our country.

I doubt he ever votes for the Republican.

I support Republicans if they actually act like republicans and adhere to the founding principles of our country.

Trump is taking out the trash FOR THE DEMOCRATS!

Imagine you’re a moderate Dem and you see how Obama is destroying the Party and moving the populace to the right. How to get rid of this guy? Have Trump do it masquerading as a Republican (which he is not even INO).

The question for me is was Trump recruited or is he acting on his own. The results are the same if the Dems can replace Obama as a candidate in 2012.

And while I like what he’s doing, I won’t help him in any way.

That's part of the good news; he doesn't need your help.

"American people will either be FOR the marxist charlatan or AGAINST him"

You contradict yourself with this sentence. If he were an openly marxist candidate then the only people who would vote for him would be fellow marxists. That would truly be a dark choice.

However, if he is a clever charlatan then people might vote for him because they think he is a liberal, or progressive, or neo-liberal, or moderate, or whatever else he is supposedly masquerading as.

In that case that would qualify as gray: voters making the wrong choice for what ostensibly might be good reasons.

Also, as others have pointed out, its not necessarily going to happen that the best, or even a decent, candidate will be fielded by the Republican Party. Palin may not run, or even if she does, the conservative vote could be split with Bachmann and others.

One thing I know for sure is that whatever happens will be filled with shades of gray. When the Republican candidate is finally chosen Freepers will split into two camps: those who can't stomach the candidate and proudly state they will vote third party, and the rest who will scream once again that we need to hold our noses and vote for anyone but the Democrat.

Your calling this a completely unique election, is an entirely repetitive comment. Every time Bubba or W ran for office we were told that this was the most pivotal election of our generation and we had to vote against Bubba and had to vote for W or else the sky would open up and demons would start swooping down to gorge themselves on our flesh.

I’m saying regardless of how any Americans voted last time, this time, it doesn’t matter who is running against obummer. This election is all about the marxist charlatan. I believe it won’t really matter if people are excited about any of the cast of candidates running against obummer. The next election will be a mandate, either for or against obummer and there won’t be any staying home tactics. People will vote and people’s voices will be heard. If your point is the same thing, I stand corrected.

For the Democrats? Really?

Trump will drop out after picking off lots of those 2008 Obama supporters who cannot bring themselves, not right away, to get behind Romney et al.

Trump is a CATALYST who helps nudge one atom away from another, en route to joining an entirely different molecule.

Don’t you think there are MANY people who voted for The One who don’t know how to drop him without admitting they were wrong? Trump let’s those people think to themselves “gee, Trump just looks better for the economy and jobs” and later, well, they will not go back to 0bama. They might stay home, they might pick a conservative... but they will not go back once they obtain escape velocity.

How many more metaphors can I come up with?

Next election I'm changing my party affiliation.
The Republican Party is almost as worthless as the democrat party.
I'll be one of those independents the GOP party hacks around here bad-mouth.
I hope Trump runs, or somebody like him runs, because if not, Obama is guaranteed 4 more years.
The GOP is going to nominate someone just barely to the right of Obama, just watch.
Screw the GOP, America needs a third party.

My point is that RIGHT NOW IN APRIL 2011 — RIGHT NOW — there are people dropping Obama because they are thinking that Trump might be cool.

I am not talking about 2012. I am not talking about July 2011.

RIGHT NOW, LOTS OF FOLKS ARE MOVING FROM OBAMA TO TRUMP.

You are thinking of 11/2012 as “now” but that is 18 months away.

I like watching Obama’s numbers drop.

What will the Dems and the MSM do when they see that an Obama candidacy for a second term will result in the Dems opponents massively taking the WH and the Senate? They will become “birthers” and sudden Constitutionalists.

At this point Trump is helping the far-sighted Dems trying to take back their own party. (Whether he means to or not.)

“Screw the GOP, America needs a third party. “

The math suggests the easiest course is to first change the GOP. I did not say EASY, but I’d rather hit the GOP in the Primaries. That said, I just hope everyone who cannot vote for the GOP still votes so those 3rd party votes will be counted. In many states, such as California, it will not matter AT ALL who I vote for for President. Well, not unless Trump can pull a lot Obama support away....

Your post, and its insulting assumptions.

The stupid idea that just because I won’t support a crappy GOP socialist, I would therefore support a crappy Democrat socialist.

Idiotic lesser of two evils thinking has been leading America to hell.

I’m not participating in that process any more, thanks.

If you want to, there’s nothing I can do about that.

obummer is a charlatan and a marxist. There is no contradiction there. And that obumbler is the most unique, unusual and dangerous president that this country has ever had should not be a question either. Granted, there might be a minuscule portion of voters who will split their vote and/or vote third party to make a point, but this is still a mandate on obumbler and majority will go and vote either for or against the marxist charlatan.

You're totally ignorant. Our party supports candidates based solely on proven adherence to America's founding principles, the same principles that are stated as the principles of this website, not on something so trivial as party registration. Everyone who knows anything about AIP knows this.
