EPA Raps for Kids: 'Public Transportation Is the Way to Go'
CNS News ^ | 4/21/2011 | Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - "Click it, flip it, turn the handle to the right, turn off the water, twist the handle real tight."

So begins a song about climate change, available for downloading from the EPA's Web site. The EPA says we should "blast out" the song at our Earth Day celebrations -- "because if this won't save the planet nothing will."

The song tells children, "The climate is changing and that’s a fact, bears don’t know when to take a nap, On top of that it won’t be cool when the flood waters rise and mosquitoes rule."

According to the Washington Times, the song was recorded by Ted Coopwood of the EPA's Office of Children’s Health Programs, who has written a number of raps intended to galvanize kids to take an interest in the environment.

The lyrics are as follows:

Come on and Click it, flip it, turn the handle to the right, turn off the water, twist the handle real tight. Slip on your sneakers, lace em up tight, leave the car parked you know that’s alright. Public transportation is the way to go, it’s one of the ways to keep emissions low, you can ride your bike, instead of the car, if we save on fuel then we’ll all go far.

I said Click it, flip it, turn the handle to the right, turn off the water, twist the handle real tight. Slip on your sneakers, lace em up tight, leave the car parked you know that’s alright. Public transportation is the way to go, it’s one of the ways to keep emissions low, you can ride your bike, instead of the car, if we save on fuel then we’ll all go far.

You can pick up paper and recycle it too, and there are many other things that you can do. You can click off the game boy, flip off the light, while you’re brushing your teeth, turn the handle to the right. Close the fridge door - keep it shut tight, no food has been added since the middle of the night. A 5 minute shower is all that’s needed to keep energy from being depleted. A long sleeve sweater is what I know – will keep you toasty and the fuel bills low. Plant a tree in your neighborhood, besides giving shade you know it looks real good.

The USA is where we are to kick a new trend and to raise the bar. The climate is changing and that’s a fact, bears don’t know when to take a nap, On top of that it won’t be cool when the flood waters rise and mosquitoes rule. It’s time to get off the couch and start to move.

Come on and Click it, flip it, turn the handle to the right.

Hey Republican Congress: flush the EPA and save a trillion dollars! Wake up and do your job.

This is more liberal BS at the expense of the poor and pathetic American taxpayer.

Most of the people at Idiot Al's event admitted the drove or flew to the event. So much for reducing their carbon footprint let alone the enormous amounts of toilet paper these leftists use.

Oh, I forgot, some of them said they were planting trees when they got home to offset their carbon footprint. Give America a break and flush these four flushers!

They will all get a free bike, black PJ’s and a straw hat to ride to their guaranteed job in the Rice Paddy.

Agencies like the EPA exist solely to give gainful employment to otherwise unemployable goofballs like Ted Coopwood.

“...twist the handle real tight...”

Yeah, that’s right, torque down on it and ruin the washer and maybe the valve seat.

I ama re-reading “Atlas Shrugged”, and if this doesn’t sound like it came right out of the pages of that book, I don’t know what!

Parents! Wake up! See what they are doing to your kids!

Congress! Fire the Ddpt. of Education, the NEA, and all those recundant programs that have multiplied like rabbits in the past 25 years!

It is worse than liberal b.s. It is pure propaganda directed towards our children while, by their own admission, they do not consider the impact of their regulations upon jobs. Zero out this destructive agency...then do the same with Education and Energy...

Meaningless chatter. I raised three sons and I can tell you that you can put out all of the rap crap you want; it won’t get more than a few mindless teenagers to put in the work involved in walking or riding a bike or bending over to pick up and recycle trash. In most places usable public transportation is not available or practical. If you can get them to clean up their room or pick up their clothes you’re lucky. This might work on some gradeschoolers, but only for a short time. Kids are not going to put in this level of effort just because some rapper or politician says that it is the right thing to do. Dump the EPA and the Dept of Ed. you idiot, lazy, dickless GOP “representatives”.

The people putting this out couldn’t care less whether the children are motivated to ride a bike or pick up trash. It’s all about group-think and getting their ‘minds right’.

I have yet to see any “group-think” that could pull that many american teenagers together for what involves work and sacrifice for any length of time. Kids are in general selfish and self-centered by nature but fortunately most of us grow out of it.

“They will all get a free bike, black PJ’s and a straw hat to ride to their guaranteed job in the Rice Paddy.”

I was thinking the same thing; they are intent on destroying the American Dream that many American adults enjoyed until a few years ago. Not only will home ownership disappear for America’s serfs, but car ownership will as well. With gas prices the way they are, car ownership is being grandfathered - those who have cars can keep them, but they won’t be able to gas them up.

Our government (both parties) is reducing us to the standards of Red Chinese peasants; we will be working for food & shelter soon. In a minimum wage job today, what else can you even afford?

You missed the point.

Work and sacrifice have nothing to do with it, other than the willingness to sacrifice one's liberty at the altar of "environmentalism". That's where the 'group think' comes into play. They plant the right seeds to make people accept $7.00 a gallon gasoline, rationed electricity, higher taxes, and central control from the politicos in D.C., all in the name of Saving the Planet. It's a long, slow process, but it's well down the road by now.

A tax funded campaign to teach the kiddies to recite enviro-propaganda about rising sea levels and distressed polar bears is just part of the process to make Climate Change caused by evil industrialists and greedy consumers an unassailable fact.
