RENO, Nev. (AP) -- President Barack Obama announced Thursday that the Justice Department is assembling a team to "root out any cases of fraud or manipulation" in oil markets that might be contributing to $4 a gallon-plus gasoline prices.
"We are going to make sure that no one is taking advantage of the American people for their own short-term gain," Obama said at a town-hall style meeting at a renewable energy plant in Reno.
The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.84 on Thursday, about 30 cents higher than a month ago and almost a dollar higher than a year ago.

What is he going to Investigate ? His Campaign Pledge? He said his Energy policy is Going to Necessarily cause Energy prices to Skyrocket. As director of the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, Steven Chu, Obama’s secretary at the Department of Energy, said in an interview that gas taxes should slowly be increased over the next 15 years in order to force people to turn to alternative energy sources.
“Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to levels in Europe,” said Chu.
In Europe, the price for a gallon of gas consistently hovers around $10 a gallon.

At the least, 2 more dollars at the pump.
Why waste time and money on these “blue ribbon” commissions, expensive consultants, etc. Time to “Drill here, drill now”! That would go a long way to alleviate the gas price pain !
