Actually. some friends and I were discussing lottery win plans. We came up with the idea of buying a small container freighter, and fitting it out for “Pirate Safaris”.

The really tough part was figuring out the taxidermy supplies needed for mounting Pirate heads on plaques. . . (evil grin)

That’s what you get when you choose the “lump sum” option instead of spreading it out over 20 years in payments.

The state might be very broke before that 20 years is up, so I would also take the lump sum.

It’s 40 mil more than they had before they cashed it in.

Powerball jackpot - 221 million
Lump Sum (which they took) - 111.7 million
Uncle Sam’s portion (27%) - 30.159 million
Take after taxes - 81.541 million
Split two ways - roughly 40 million a piece.

Based on many past winner's experiences; they would be wise to buy something untouchable with a portion of the money.
Maybe a whole life insurance policy.

That way if they blow all the money; they have a small piece of it left when they are older.
