NPR: Gas Prices Pinch, And Obama Feels The Pain
NPR.com ^ | April 23, 2011 | by Scott Horsley

Gas prices were on the program for President Obama this week. Obama visited Virginia, Nevada and California, highlighting the cost of gasoline among other hardships the American people are dealing with. The president offered little in the way of short-term relief, though.

It didn't take any prompting from the audience to get Obama started on the subject of gas prices. He brought it up himself, again and again.

In fact, gasoline prices hit their all-time peak in the summer of 2008, when Obama was running for president and "Drill, Baby, Drill" became a rallying cry for his Republican opponents. Back then, Obama argued there was no quick fix for $4-a-gallon gasoline.

Thursday, the president added a new message, announcing the Justice Department has teamed up with state and federal regulators to root out any manipulation in the oil and gasoline markets.

This search for a villain to blame for high pump prices has a familiar ring to it. No wonder; former President George W. Bush called for a similar investigation almost exactly five years ago, when the price of gas was nearing $3 a gallon.

bummer’s answer is “it’s your fault, your car gets too low gas mileage”.

But the state-run media scrubs all references when they realize it’s polling badly.

You know, if we can tough it out over the next 1.5 years or so, this might not be such a bad thing. As jobs get harder to find, gas and food prices continue to rise. His polls are going to go down, down, down. It’s truly a sad day in America where the only thing many American’s seem to get is what’s in their wallets.

If the communist in our White House is looking for the mastermind behind rising gas prices, he might find a few clues . . . if he looks in the mirror.

Make that if he looks in the mirror honestly.

The inevitable result of a half-century and more of publik-skewl ejicashun.

America -- a great idea, didn't last.

Let me guess: high gas prices are some evil rich guy’s fault?

It's falling apart because the people moved away from God and sound principles into a society that's just all about me, me, me.

As far as it not lasting, who knows. When God's people turn from their wicked ways and repent and turn back to God things change. Out of the big messes that we create, He can create even bigger miracles. I think it's going to take a good hard spanking for that to happen though. And it could get a lot uglier, but, out of the ashes, just watch and see the hand of God move.

We are in the end game.

The United States is blessed with a wealth of energy. What we lack is leadership.

The environmentalist have manged to tie up almost all our own energy and forced us to send money to the middle east (which in turns has paid for the terrorist that are killing us).

I am all for protecting the environment, but not at the price the environmentalist want us to pay.

Open up our oil fields

Build new refineries

Allow clean coal to be used to generate electricity

Build hydro electric dams

Roll back all environmental laws to something more reasonable.

Put the burden of proof on the environmentalist.

We should begin questioning the motives of those that want to regulate us into a third world nation.

He doesn't feel the pain yet but he will by 2012. Of course that presupposes a fair election. He can do two things to win. Get Trump to run as an indie and steal the gullible pubbie vote and causing the pubbie candidate to loose. Or...he can make illegal aliens legal by executive order. Thus getting 20 million or so new Dim voters.

This is exactly what he is planning on. It is no accident that COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION is now again on the front page - no one I know asked for this to overtake the bankruptcy of America discussion in Congress.

“American’s seem to get is what’s in their wallets.”

It won’t feel so bad if you think of it as a “Democratic Voter Re-Education Tax”.

“Build hydro electric dams”

This is a great idea, but I have read that the vast majority of viable locations for hydroelectric power have already been exploited, and, for obvious reasons, most are in the East.

IMHO this is not going to end well. One thing that must be done ASAP is reestablishing the integrity of the ballot box. And if the marxist courts try to stick their nose in it, break their backs. The courts have allowed the marxists to take over. And they are the ones that prevent our push back from being effective.
