24 years old most definitely are children in this bleak generation.

It’s why I don’t have any real life friends. I can’t seem to find anything in common with people my age.

I would imagine that a pediatric cardiologist is probably a high risk medical specialty. I wonder how the doctor would feel if his patients asked him how many children died while under his care and how many malpractice lawsuits have been brought against him?
That would seem to me to be a more pertinent bit of information.

They skew the statistics....shooting deaths count all gang murders. It is a scam—they try to get a record of guns like they did in Hitler’s Germany which confiscated all guns because they knew who had them....they forced registration, their homosexual SA troops forcibly grabbed the guns and then they herded the defenseless men, women and children who were tortured, starved and killed.

Let them talk about the need for responsible gun ownership....the Eddie Eagle pamphlets should be given to those who would like them....but they should never be able to ask if a patient actually has a gun—much less keep records of it. Medical records will get out.....slippery slope and Murphy’s Law.

The medical industry has a very fascist tendency with mandating toxins to infants who are too young to excrete the poisons which damage the brain and not warning about attachment disorder in the inhumane care of group daycares shows their stupidity on the true importance of the natural family and nurturing and emotional and physical development of children.

Do they ask the essential question about children having responsive and loving male role models? The lack of which causes crime and incarceration of over 80% of our population. That is way more costly to society than guns. The fatherless boys and girls are the ones who will use guns on others because of their sheer anger at the world for their incomplete early childhood.

Most are extremely ignorant on vital issues of life. They have been brainwashed by the cultural Marxists who use educational system and media for their indoctrination....the more time spent in Universities....usually the more warped they become...and unable to have any common sense.

While it is the physician’s right to turn down patients, patients threatened with being turned down by their pediatrician because of guns should turn the tables on the pediatrician.

This is done when the pediatrician tells them why he is turning them down.

The patient should then tell the pediatrician that because of this, the pediatrician’s name will now be registered as a “Civil Rights unfriendly” doctor on the Internet, so that other potential parents who are gun owners may reject his services out of hand, taking their business elsewhere.

Of course, most people would interpret “Civil Rights unfriendly” as meaning that the doctor is a racist. But that is not the gun owner’s problem. Gun ownership is most definitely a “Civil Right” as well, so it is not the gun owner’s problem that people will think the pediatrician is a Klansman or something.

But sure as all get out, the pediatrician will care.

Yet the gun owner should be magnanimous, in that pediatricians are not that common, and he should then offer the pediatrician a deal: If he, the pediatrician is willing to provide medical services to the best of his ability, absent any further inquiries about guns, then the patient is willing to be otherwise friendly and cooperative, and not register the pediatrician as “Civil Rights unfriendly”.

Pediatrician’s choice. If he wants to be an oppressive dork, then he should be treated as such.

The reporter is way behind the facts.

The bill was rewritten to actually address the issue (illegal registration), while allowing doctors and patients to exercise free will and free choice.

Doctors can now ask direct questions (which many patients need and desire), but they cannot register ownership. Insurance companies are also banned from recording anything involving firearms.

Th original bill as written was ludicrous. It made it a felony for your family doctor and friend of 30 years to ask you about your new shotgun, a felony for a doctor to ask about an Alzheimer patient’s access to firearms, or an ER doc to ask an incoming gangbanger if he had a firearm on him.

Unfortunately, by not respecting physicians’ personal freedom and treating all doctors like hardcore Lefties, the original bill only served to make enemies where none previously existed.

Please, don't tell me that I don't know the background here. I've almost certainly been all through it many more times than you.

Glad to have your input. Do you know what the bill's status is now?

Lie. That’s what I did.

There was a law passed under Clinton or George Bush that required this firearms question to be asked of new patients. This is not new but it is a broadening of the law.

Darned if I can find the name of that bill though.

Logic, is never welcome.

Last I heard (about 2 weeks ago), it had been modified as stated and passed out of committe for a general vote.

All indications at that time were that all parties were happy with the language and that it would likely be passed without problem and signed by the Gov.

Do you have any updates since then?

Marktwain,
Just wanted to state that the last sentence of my origina post was intended as a general statement, not directly at you. In the latter context it would seem most rude, and that was not my intent.

Studies show that keeping those guns locked and ammunition properly stored and locked in a separate location reduces the chance that a gun will be properly used.

Any doctor too stupid to understand the second and fourth amendments is too stupid to be my child’s pediatrician.

There is this class of individual today that thinks you need their guidance to make it safely through life. The unmitigated gall of these folks is insufferable.

One of the American Idol contestants sang ‘Man in the Mirror’ a few weeks back. After he had sung the song, he stated that if people didn’t vote for him it was because they weren’t ready to look in the mirror themselves.

He was convinced he was put on earth to enlighten others. Kids and young adults are getting this from somewhere, and I think it’s our ignoramus education system.

Five will get you ten, this numb-nut physician is a graduate of the same type of indoctrination center.

It’s a pretty short leap from “Do you have guns in the house” to “do you vote for candidates who support gun control.”

After all, if the pediatrician deems it appropriate... And who are we to question doctors?

It’s getting back to the bad old days when doctors were considered gods, instead of a cross section of us all, complete with drug addicts, alcoholics, gambling addicts, wife beaters, and so on. And don’t we as consumers have the right to know their vices and lifestyles? So if they ask the question, we can ask right back.

It doesn’t take much to put one of these clowns in his place. They can ask the question, but it doesn’t require an answer, or doesn’t require one they expect.

This idiot gun question issue aside... Doctors Know Everything... or at least they think they do. Doctor arrogance is the main reason I got out of the Health Care Field... No matter the subject Doctors know better - airplanes, parachuting, vacation spots, boats, politics, even the scientific research in their own area of practice (doctors are often way behind on the latest research). the list is endless. And one’s level of proven expertise does not dissuade them... they still know better. Example - I was a trained and experienced Epidemiologist once upon a time in my life. In the late 80’s and mid 90’s (as a hobby using my skills and knowledge) I studied very closely the CDC, UN and World Health Organization’s near panic about a heterosexual aids epidemic that was going to devour the U.S. As a result we got massive PR blasts about using condoms and ‘Safe Sex’. But my research showed no such thing present or even emerging in America... So why all the propaganda? As it turns out - there never was any threat of massive heterosexual transmission of aids in the U.S. - It never ever existed. What heterosexual aids transmission existed was always tainted by one partner being an IV drug user or the male was ‘Bisexual’. Exceptions were intercity prostitutes with high frequency of sexual contact and often IV drug use in the mix. The reason for the BIG LIE - to spread the guilt of Aids - keeping onus and focus of the dreaded disease away from ‘gays’. But no amount of statistical or clinical information would keep a Doctor - Surgeon from being flabbergasted - even outraged that I would voice this opinion at a party given by a mutual friend. Some years back - 2005 or so was it — for some strange reason, UN officials confessed it was all a fraud. But doctors know everything.
