Tea party lawmakers are being targeted for elimination by their own party, as old-guard Republicans use the Census-mandated redistricting process to erase seats won by last year’s upstarts, the National Journal reports. House freshmen from several GOP-majority states are in danger of losing out in a political realignment that rewards more connected veteran representatives. It may be cold comfort to tea partyers that the hostile redistricting process proves their point: They really don’t belong to the political establishment.

Head's up on this story about the backstabbing good ol' boy GOP trying to undermine TEA Party candidates through redistricting. I have no doubt that there is truth in this, based on everything we've seen to date, including THIS:

Next for GOP leaders: Stopping Sarah Palin

These so-called party "leaders" REALLY tick me off!

If true, this will be the demise of the Republican Party.

Yep, and when the Rats don't need 'em anymore, it won't be pretty. Even the Rats have no respect for other party traitors.

Perhaps it is time to start laying some firm framework for a more permanent conservative Tea Party and let the RINO’s relegate themselves and the Republican Party to a minor party as what happened to the Whigs. Enough already of thee elitist b@stards.

“Sorry to interject perspective...this ‘article’ is very lame, giving one anecdoctal example of district in LA”

It’s also happening in Texas...

That link no longer exists.

GRANDPA’s OLD PARTY is taking its last breath, by pulling this crap.

TEA PARTY is a lean and mean youngster and growing leaps and bounds.

Plus, we’re on a mission from God.

Yes, the National Journal article lists cases in more states than LA. However, it is not some "GOP Kingmakers" intentionally disenfranchising 'Tea Party' candidates. There are real strategic questions with regard to the redistricting in order to have the best demographics, regardless of who the future candidates are. In Texas,

Republicans are unlikely to protect freshman Rep. Blake Farenthold, who won in a heavily Latino district. Many in the party establishment see his election as a fluke—the district he won has been held by a Democrat since its creation in 1982. Helping Farenthold would mean making his district less Latino, which would create major headaches for Republicans elsewhere because the party leaders would have to create another majority-Latino seat to comply with the Voting Rights Act.

We’ve learned nothing from the tea party movement if we can’t capitalize on anything going forward. No matter how the lines are drawn people are waking up or are awake to see how there vote makes a difference.

The most frustrating thing is that the commentary is always from a place of defeat whenever the GOP is involved. Or least that’s MHO.

It's still there. The link at that thread had a quote mark at the end: “

That stopped it from working.

I removed it and pushed enter and here is the link if you want it:

Politico has all kinds of "stuff"--- popups etc and loads slowly.

They rarely remove a hit piece...

Finally! Thank you.

FReepers, where’s the evidence that the redistricting efforts are actually costing freshmen TP members their seats?

Be careful you do not fall victim to the divide and conquer strategy. A third party helps the Democrats.

Be careful you do not fall victim to the divide and conquer strategy.

The GOP is doing a good job of dividing and conquering itself with its "Stop Sarah" and "Screw the TEA Party" shenanigans.

It is time for the Tea Party to begin taking over the GOP.

No more patty-cakes.

Take the party over, and throw the corrupt dinosaurs out. No compromise, no “middle ground”. Oust them.
