New York - Gas prices are on the rise nationwide, but one filling station in Florida has earned the dubious distinction of having the highest prices in the country. Suncoast Energys, located near the Orlando International Airport, was charging $5.69 a gallon for regular gasoline on Friday. That's the highest of any gas retailer in the nation, according to price tracker gasbuddy.com. Way to gouge travelers rushing to turn in rental cars with full tanks so they can catch their flights.

We just left Orlando last week and the rental car company we used offered a pre-fill option for 15 cents less than the average price in Orlando at the time. That was a great deal so we took it and made sure we returned the car on fumes.
I think the days of them charging more than the local stations is gone, but return it less than full and the price is horrendous.

If Obama’s so weak he can do nothing to lower oil prices like Bush did with one speech then he should allow the elderly who are on social security to be able to go to work without it taking anything away from their social security benefits. This would make more sense than forcing them to take out loans from the bank again this coming winter when it’s time to heat their homes.
There's the reason. He was probably the highest station in the nation before this and he'll be the highest station after, too. He has the nearest station and knows he can fleece the public.
Its amazing how few people are aware of that. Most think high are prices are because of tensions in the Middle East or speculators but your chart confirms the relationship between the dollar (USD) and oil prices. Heck, most of my relatives don’t even know what Quantitaive Easing is and what impact it has on the USD.
One thing to add is that chart would look the same with most any commodity (gold, steel, wheat, copper, corn, soybeans, cotton, etc)...but most folks assume that higher prices at the grocery store and at the department store are price gouging.

I just prepay now. Why bother to fill her up? Usually I get caught in a last second meeting that I don’t have the time to fill her up.

My thoughts exactly.
Yes, I used locking gas caps for years, but most newer vehicles have fuel tank fillers that are almost impossible to siphon out through the filler tubes.
Interesting...as I recall, Bush’s popularity was highly correlated with the price of gas. I suspect Obama’s is also. I suppose that tells you there are diminishing returns to buying votes.
Obviously these vendors are hoping to catch those attempting to return rental cars with a full tank... those who are not careful buyers. I have honestly forgotten the difficulty in the law that keeps the local govt. from forcing these dealers to post their prices visibly from the road.
The fact that this keeps emerging in the natl media is probably just a fight for tourist dollars in a flagging economy [AND it is still flagging!]

Gas prices dropped from $3.70 / gal to $1.67 after Bush made a speech and executive order(s). I'm not going to post a link to support every statement I post.
Yup, I’ve done my share of stupid things when I was younger.
...like taking a friend to the airport for a lobster dinner... In Maine...where you can buy live lobster at the grocery store for $3 a pound. I don’t even want to tell you how much the lobster dinner was at PWM.
And a small cup of coffee at the Saigon airport... $5 when I could have gotten one for only a few cents in district one before going to the airport.
That’s a pretty big claim to make without substantiation. What executive order did he make? When did this take place? What section of the country did you get your gass price figures from?
