I guess Obama will have to stop traveling, he'll never get a passport now...

Some babies who are born outside of marriage do not have a father listed.

We haven’t lived in a free country since around Jan 2007.

The way I read this, the birth certificates for persons born to single parents would only need to show the full name of the mother, thus the reason for using the language "parents(s)" as opposed to simply using the word "parents".

New birth certificate requirement to obtain a US passport, huh. Who’s in charge of the State Department again?

Oops. Missed that. Thanks.

> the U.S. Department of State will require the full names of the applicant’s parent(s) to be listed on all certified birth certificates to be considered as primary evidence of U.S. citizenship for all passport applicants, regardless of age. Certified birth certificates missing this information will not be acceptable as evidence of citizenship.
Hahaha. THATS gonna create a whole lot of confusion in short order :)

That was my question. If there is NO father listed on Obamas BC, isn’t he a NBC, just from his mom being a citizen?

I guess that if you are adopted, it will be real easy to get the names of your birth parents.

I guess Obama will have to stop traveling, he'll never get a passport now... Last time I looked, Obama's CoLB fulfilled the new requirements.
Of course, that doesn't mean Madame Secretary of State will not attempt to put the kibosh on his reelection.

So it looks like they are eliminating the original purpose of a birth certificate which was to provide a legal record of an unrelated (to the baby) WITNESS who attests to the circumstances of the birth.

New requirement??? I got a Passport 4 years ago and had to send back to my home town where I was born and get a copy of my long form. They would not except my regular BC that came from the hospital where I was born. So what's this “new” crap?

The drafters of the 14th Amendment said the words “parents,” but it has not been tested in court enough. If Obama wasn’t born here, his mother would need to be a citizen for 5 years after the age of 14 for Obama to be a NBC. She had Obama at age 18, only 4 years after the age of 14.

Maybe this is Hillary’s way of making sure Obama is outed once he is no longer President, unless he never wants to travel again. Cough up that Birth Certificate Obama, if you want to go to Ireland.

I don’t have a birth certificate. In Montreal at the time I was born, yeah I’m old, all I got was a certificate of baptism from the church at 3 days old. I now have a passport, certificate of naturalization, etc. But when I was five, we had moved to Atlanta GA, and the admin wouldn’t let me into kindergarten without a birth certificate. Must have one, everyone does. I’m betting when I go to get my Social Security it’s going to be the old kindergarten run around again.
