State lawmakers who want an all-cuts budget because less government is better should get their wish starting with their own districts, state Treasurer Bill Lockyer said this morning.
Lockyer, visiting the Bay Area News Group-East Bays editorial board, said that when these lawmakers many of whom already serve the states most recession-stricken areas start hearing from their constituents about even deeper cutbacks in police and fire services, public schools and universities, social services and the like, theyll soon think the better of stonewalling a public vote on Gov. Jerry Browns plan to extend current tax rates for five more years.
Its a put-your-money or lack thereof where-your-mouth-is tactic.
Short of even more painful cuts atop those already signed into law, Lockyer sees no end to the current deadlock, he said.

IT’S A DEAL!!!!
As long as we raise taxes in Dummy districts first, and hand out more benefits to free loaders and illegal aliens in Dummy districts first.
No problem. As an elected member of one of these districts it means the majority of my people are not dependent on suckling the tit of the liberal welfare state.
Cut away!
with in 2 yrs they will be more conservative then we are!
But don’t touch the sacred cow - pensions and benefits. Will Demos never learn?
Thanks SmithL.
I don’t think it really makes any difference in California anymore. Just learn Spanish and get in the appropriate handout line. This line is for free abortions, that line is for food stamps, this line is for free Obamacare/Medicaid, that line is for welfare, etc. Oh, bye the way, you two who work for a living are going to have to pay a little more for the poor.
Exactly what I was thinking!
Lockyer is lying. They had enough R votes to get taxes on the ballot if the Ds agreed to put pension reform an dspending control on the ballot. The unions are the ones who stopped the vote. Why? Because their polling showed it was very possible that there would be no tax hikes passed, but that the pension and spending items would pass. Dan Walters wrote about this in the SacBee.

My thoughts exactly. Pile on all the tax increases & socialist nanny programs in demoRAT districts and all the spending cuts in Repub districts. Guess which districts will mutiny first!
Wouldn't that be nice?
Tickets to see Trump are being scalped.
The complete collapse of California will serve as a warning. It will be the first state to fall.
I wonder in what District the parents of Bill Lockyer live.
Me three !
Close all the abortion clinics, homeless shelters, and food kitchens. Allow hospitals and schools to refuse service to illegals and Medicaid recipients, discontinue sending food stamps, free school lunches, and section 8 housing assistance to residents of GOP districts, etc.
Shut down EVERY social spending program in GOP districts and those neighborhoods would only improve over time as the freeloaders left. We’ll spend our returned tax money on roads, police, fire, parks, and libraries.

Not giving up so readily.
It’s a deal. Start cutting the taxes first.
