Ricky Gilleland, a tech-savvy 11th-grader, has created the only digitized record of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

“......And I’m struck by the hypocrisy of the supposedly “anti-war” politicians who voted against Iraq, like Nancy Pelosi. Since Obama was elected, she has voted to continue the war in Afghanistan … and supported the attack on Libya.

Only a handful of Congressmen have remained principled on foreign intervention. One of them is Ron Paul. On my FBN show this week, I’ll talk with him about why he opposes our “aggressive foreign policy.” Thursday at 10pm EST.” [end excerpt]

BTTT. To someone who appreciates the sacrifice versus those that have chosen public service for the paycheck first.

I’m sure Ricky Gilleland’s web site has been posted earlier on FR but I thought it was an interesting article coming from the LA Times. I am inspired by his commitment.

An amazing young man. He’s performing an essential and honorable service and his parents should be so proud. What a refreshing and humbling story, thanks for the post.

Great to be an idealist; one can even recall having such tendencies oneself, long, long ago.

Let’s hope the kid still has his idealism when he’s fifty. Given the nature of the world in which we live, THAT would be a feat.

Although I am opposed to military honors at funerals and military burials in military cemeteries except for those who died in current service, or who retired after a lifetime period of service, I applaud the efforts of this earnest young man.

After reading about another youth beating people and trashing fast food joints this is refreshing. Thanks.

WHY?
Was not the other folks service honorable and a scarifice for them and their families? Did they not defend this nation. So if a grunt was lucky enough to survive his wounds after a tour in Nam and died years later we just piss on him? No thanks.

Thnk You for asking the question that shot into my mind when I read someone was opposed to military honors for qualified veterans.

It should be the Bound duty of the military to at least provide a buglar for every Veteran who pass’s away.

Wait for it. The O admin will find a way to discredit the boy. He will be refused access. His site will be taken down. He will be labeled a terrorist.... Wait for it. This is much too honorable and Godly American for our Marxist chief to tolerate.

When my father died in central Illinois (veteran of WW II and Korea), the local VFW chapter showed up, fired a 21 gun salute, played Taps and collected and distributed the brass to the family. All, without being asked. Among the group were other WW II and Korea vets, their sons and grandsons.

Please replace the disparaging headline posted with the correct one:

“Teen makes digital record of Arlington graves”

I copied the article title just as it was printed. If it has been changed, the LA Times changed it later.

Well, that's a relief. I was surprised that you would do such a thing but it does not surprise me at all the LA Times put up that bogus headline; their lawyers must have made the editor tone it down. There is a digital database that has been in place for years at ANC.
