Cardinal suspends Pfleger: 'You are not able to pastor a Catholic parish'

Citing what he called threats from the Rev. Michael Pfleger to leave the church, Cardinal Francis George has removed the outspoken priest from St. Sabina parish and has suspended his "sacramental faculties as a priest."

Pfleger had publicly feuded with the cardinal about possibly being reassigned to Leo High School, telling a radio show recently that he would look outside the Catholic church if offered no other choice.

"If that is truly your attitude, you have already left the Catholic Church and are therefore not able to pastor a Catholic parish," George wrote in a letter dated today.

"A Catholic priest's inner life is governed by his promises, motivated by faith and love, to live chastely as a celibate man and to obey his bishop," the cardinal continued. "Breaking either promise destroys his vocation and wounds the Church.

"Many love and admire you because of your dedication to your people," the cardinal wrote. "Now, however, I am asking you to take a few weeks to pray over your priestly commitments in order to come to mutual agreement on how you understand personally the obligations that make you a member of the Chicago presbyterate and of the Catholic Church.

"With this letter, your ministry as pastor of Saint Sabina Parish and your sacramental faculties as a priest of the Archdiocese are suspended."

Finally, the first GOOD news I've heard in Illinois all year! (of course it's not related to government policies)

You guys might remember "Father" Pfleger as the lunatic "Catholic" priest who went to bat for Obama during the Jermiah Wright controversy but ultimately forced Obama to resign from his "church" when this hate monger gave a "white privilege" rant against Hillary. Needless to say, Pfleger doesn't preach Christianity anymore than Jeremiah Wright does.

It seems this time, he's finally been "suspended" for good, as a new priest has been sent to live in the rectory and Pfleger's powers to function as a priest and administer sacraments have been rescinded, unlike his 2008 suspension. About damn time. Let's hope it's permanent this time.

I went to this guy's facebook page, luckily I don't have to "friend" to post comments. Check it out, his loudest supporters admit they're not Catholic, some of them have even admitted to being atheists! This guy may get butts in the doors on Sunday to listen to him preach Marxism under the guise of "social justice", but that doesn't mean his weekly attendees have ever joined the Catholic church. I too would be worried about losing lifelong Catholics if Pfleger were to "take his flock with him", except it seems most of them were never Catholics to begin with so what they lose by Pfleger taking his ball and going home?

There's talk of him becoming a protestant, some black Lutherans and Episcopalians think he'd make a fine addition. Well unfortunately for them, most protestants don't to hear hate spewed from the pulpit either. He's about as welcome to most protestants as Westboro Baptist Church is. Personally, I think "Father" Pfreaky should join Farrakhan's group if he really wants a religious body that fully supports his "vision". Give Pfreaky a little red bow tie and let him hand out copies of The Final Call and preach about the "white devils" and "bloodsucking Jews", you know he'd love it there! Time to accept Elijah Muhammad as your new savior, Pfather Pflakey!

What hypocrites! When Cardinal George first came into Chicago, he made moves to really clean house by importing African and Polish priests. The entrenched class (especially the homosexuals) tamed him rather quickly. Seems they didn’t want to introduce “diversity” to Chicago.

Some people on Fr. Pfleger’s facebook page are saying he should join the Lutheran church since he has been suspended in the Catholic Church. I told them that I know many Lutherans, my grandfather was a Lutheran too, and I don’t know any Lutherans who agree with Pfleger’s message. I said if he is looking for a religious body that will support him preaching hate from the pulpit, he should join the Nation of Islam.

The first Christian congregation I attended after becoming a believer through the witness of a person of unknown denomination was Lutheran. Later on I went to a Free Methodist church, then the independent bible church where I am now. I always am cheered when a congregation keeps their consciences true to the bible even if they don’t all manage to agree on exactly what everything means.

I started telling my devoutly Catolic mom “hey did you hear about..” and she already knew what I was gonna tell her.

Another commie bastard is one Father Dubie(sp?). I forget his first name. He was at my Grandma’s parish, she loved the bastard. He didn’t even come to her funeral. He was into all the same stuff as Pfleger.

I expect Pfleger to start his own “church”.
