Obama drops climate change talk as green movement fizzles

The public is increasingly skeptical of global warming and far more worried about the economy than the environment

What the heck went wrong?" That, apparently, is the question roiling the environmental community as it realizes that the fight against climate change has fizzled.

As Brad Plumer writes in the New Republic, everything was looking great in 2008 for a sweeping effort to make good on candidate Barack Obama's pledge to start turning back the rising oceans. The Democrats held Congress. Both John McCain and Mr. Obama had promised to push for capping carbon emissions. Corporations had gotten on board. Al Gore and "An Inconvenient Truth" had seemingly softened up the public to the point where it might go along with whatever a popular president promised.

"Instead, the climate push was ... a total flop," Mr. Plumer laments.

They'll do it under the table. He just hired a garu from GE and we're buying 25,000 Volts.

Our farmers are no longer raising corn for animals and people. It's all going to the ethanol plant thanks to a monstrous subsidy. And they talk about oil and gas subsidies.

Where the hell did that come from? BHO just suggested taking subsidies from Big Oil to pay for green crap. This in a speech where he was is saying higher gas prices are good for the unwashed workers, inferring that his people will use public transportation.
Also don’t for a second turn your back on his EPA minions or that sneaky B’tard, Ken Salazar at the Department of Interior. Both are moving to regulate us into control.
This is too good even for the wizard of Oz.

"What the heck went wrong?" That, apparently, is the question roiling the environmental community....

Whereas "What went right for once, and how can we make it happen to unionistas, abortionistas, race hustlers, poverty pimps, illegal-invasion fans, and liberals in general?" is the question roiling the sane community.

What the heck went wrong?"

people realized that:

1) the claims of environmentalism are dishonest and based on pseudoscience
2) environmentalism leads to higher costs, decreased efficiency of production, decreased productivity, decreased production, higher prices, lower average standard of living, decreased freedom, and increased violations of private property rights

"What the heck went wrong?"

Sir Walter Scott answered that question:

"Oh! What a tangled web we weave
when first we practice to deceive."

They never can admit that the East Anglia Emails are their 18 1/2 minute gap. It’s over.

pledge to start turning back the rising oceans.

What rising oceans?

I've heard this chicken-little call to arms from the environmentalists, but I've yet to see any rise, and I lived at the edge of an ocean for 13 years prior to moving out west, and there was absolutely no change in the level aside from the tides.

I thought we were supposed to have millions fleeing inland to escape the cities that should be underwater by now...

It’s real simple.

People will support the whole enviro agenda as long as they think it won’t cost them (personally) much.

If forced to choose between a green world and green in their pockets, they’ll take the money every time.

All of the environmental nonsense is tolerable when the treasury is full and business is booming. Under those conditions you can waste money on frivolous things. However, when the economy goes south and the country is facing bankruptcy, you can no longer afford to pizz money away.

Yeah. But the EPA just keeps on trucking along. The lower key the chatter, better chance of this administration continuing down it’s course to screw us on carbon issues. Same goes for keeping down any new oil/gas exploration within US boundaries.

“... the fight against climate change has fizzled.”

Phrased that way, it is a silly statement. Fight anything other than a climate utterly the same from year to year.

The question, What the heck went wrong?

It was BAD SCIENCE. The famous Hockey Stick graph - the number 1 pusher for having to deal with the problem turned out to be BOGUS. Samples of tree rings not favorable to the study were dropped out. The study deliberately chose not to show earlier warming which was greater because it would undermine the study.

The Climate Emails showed deliberate deceptions and underhanded tactics. Not only this but other claims turned out NOT TO BE SCIENTIFIC.

Not to mention a boat load of Hurricanes that didn't hit the US each year for the last 3 years as projected.

It was just plain bad science pushed by politics.
