CNN: The (racist) birther movement: immune to facts?
CNN ^ | April 30, 2011 | Alan Silverleib

Can the "birthers" ever be convinced that Barack Obama was born in America and is eligible to serve as president?

Probably not, according to one prominent psychology professor and other political observers.

Since Obama launched his bid for the White House, a sizable minority of Americans has expressed strong doubts about whether he was actually born in the United States. Over the past few years, the allegation that he was born overseas -- in Kenya or perhaps Indonesia -- has taken on a life of its own, despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

It remains to be seen whether Wednesday's release will be received any differently. But the early reaction wasn't exactly positive.

One of the main websites pushing the birther claims -- birthers.org -- declared that "forgery or not, now we can debate the true meaning of a natural born citizen."

The U.S. Constitution says only "natural born" citizens can become president -- a vague clause that some members of the birther movement contend disqualifies Obama if he was born outside the United States.

[The psychology professor] Westen also brought up the explosive issue of race, one of the biggest political lightning rods in U.S. history. He insisted the birther movement never would have taken hold with a white president. It's not fair to call a large segment of today's electorate "1950s-style racists," he said. But some people are "unconsciously prejudiced in a way that predisposes them to not believing that a black man with a funny name could have really been legitimately elected president of the United States."

[Snip]

"The right wing was attempting to make him 'one of them' as opposed to 'one of us,'"

You stupid Freepers just can't accept that a layered document signed by UK Le Lee, with questionable markings, that was unavailable until after I spent millions in legal fees, when it mysteriously turned up, and was verified by my Democrat operatives and some of my lying lawyers, could be valid without examination of the original by qualified forensic documents examiners ... and that unreasonable request makes you a bunch of racist bigots!

Exactly. And let’s not forget that half of all democrats thought Bush was behind 9/11 in some way, and CNN did not treat that issue this way.

I don’t care so much about the registrars signature because it’s also on the Nordyke twins COLB. What I do care about is the layering, and I wonder whose dead child’s COLB the commandeered for their own. If we could figure that out, it would sink him.
I would also love to see the “Mountain” of evidence CNN purports to have. They must be keeping it locked up because so far I have only seen 2 badly done fakes, and heard the GOVERNOR of HI say Obozo’s BC could not be found.

I think that once people realize they are dealing with a fraud, it is much more difficult to herd them back into Unicornland. Obama’s problems are only beginning.

What an idiot.

8. Full Name of Father - Barack Hussein Obama
11. Birthplace - Kenya, East Africa

Heh!

Make him suffer the wrath of the birther agenda as we have suffered at the hands of his henchmen via his policies.

Make him age before his time!

Their internals must not be looking good on this, for them to dispatch CNN to try to cover their butts.

The U.S. Constitution says only "natural born" citizens can become president -- a vague clause that some members of the birther movement contend disqualifies Obama if he was born outside the United States.

Again CNN is trying to frame the debate on a singular issue. A "vague" clause that seems fairly clear - born of two married US citizens - not one US citizen and one British national.

And remember just two days before (and multiple times in the last month) CNN had a reporter running interference for Obama and Co. by claiming that only a short form COLB was legally available - legally the long form couldn't be copied/released. And yet two days later, after the "release" of the long form, that position had been abandoned with no comment on their previous report/claim.

“The U.S. Constitution says only “natural born” citizens can become president — a vague clause that some members of the birther movement contend disqualifies Obama if he was born outside the United States.”

To the left, EVERYTHING in the Constitution is vague and open to interpretation and the right to ignore any values from our founding fathers.

I saw it on another thread...inexplicably, some DUm WH op convinced Bobo that the BC scandal would split the GOP -- I kid you not.

Bobo, of course, in his "brilliance" bought this bit of paralogistic agitprop hook, line, and stinker. Then that 70% poll really shook them up. And out pops the manufactured COLB. Which means they threw in the towel. Which in turn reveals they're operating from a position of weakness.

So now it's game on to Bobo's college records -- just look at Baby Daddy Bobo's college wreckord here.

The second half of this — barely worth mentioning — is that the BC scandal apparently titillates his base, particularly the post-Millenial/Miscreants he desperately needs again to have any chance in 2012.

What is this? A psychology professor telling us we're racist for not trusting an incompetent law lecturer? We really need an academic to tell us how the real world works. /sarc>

The old, overworked, overplayed Race Card just doesn’t have the same shock value it once had.

You might say it has been trumped.
