WASHINGTON – Osama bin Laden, the glowering mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that murdered thousands of Americans, was killed in an operation led by the United States, President Barack Obama said Sunday.
"Justice has been done," said the president in a dramatic late-night announcement at the White House.
A small team of Americans killed bin Laden in a firefight Sunday at a compound in Pakistan, the president said, and took custody of his remains. American officials said they were being handled in accordance with Islamic tradition.

That's true. My suggestion of taking the high ground derives from the moral/ethical position of "doing the right thing". Whether the Islamofascists like it or not is their business -- and they often get all riled up regardless.

I refuse to get upset that they are treating his body with respect. I like many of you wouldn’t like that to happen, but do you realize what would happen if we didn’t?

I have to admit, part of me wants to see a picture of the body so there is proof Obama isn’t just making this up.
But, if he was, Al Queda would have come out to say he’s not dead. They already confirmed he’s dead.

This just goes to show that even in victory our ruling elite must make us into cowards. It is our ruling elite that has, all these years, kept us from victory, not the awesome brains and firepower of the terrorists.
I worry about them especially. Obama is an idiot and either working for the other side or of questionable loyalty. May I ask if there is a link where there is discussed?
What the fu*k are you talking about? How dare you?!!!! Bin Laden deserved NO respect whatsoever. Muslims and their phony "tender" feelings are not the cause of any of the slaughter they have been perpetrating against the United States, our people, and our allies long, long before bin Laden came on the scene. Munich 1972, Lockerbie, the Marine barracks in Lebanon, the Achille Lauro, and so many other murderous incidents perpetrated by Muslims against us through the years were all unprovoked by us. They hate us simply because we exist, not because we ever disrespected their religion or a scum sucker like bin Laden.

Why are you surprised? Time and time again Obama has shown his true muslim colors. In this instance he is merely giving due respect to one of his fellow co-religionists, and also one of his mentors in the fight against the collective American enemy.
Fox News has been spelling Osama's name with a U since day one, but as far as I know, they're the only news outlet that did.
I never did understand why they spelled it that way.
How can you make any assessment of Islamic terrorism if you don’t know what motivates it? I saw this picture last week...This was floating around FR, and some other places...I thought it looked photo shopped. When somebody dies or is killed, his lips shoule be relaxed and not like he is squinting...The other possibility would be that his mouth would be fully open....not like in its current position...
Well-said. To those who complain that we should have buried his body respectfully in order to avoid upsetting the islamic terrorists, I have this to say. Do you seriously think purportedly burying him in islamic tradition will reduce their anger at America or their resolve to kill Americans? Of course it won’t, nor will it prevent them from using his death to champion him as a martyr for recruiting purposes. It does not matter, period.
If they want to, they can use the picture of his bloodied dead body to rile up anger just as effectively as if we had stuffed swine fecal matter into his mouth before burning him (and if they really, really want to they can even start a rumor that we did just that regardless of if we did or not).
There was no reason, other than the administration’s desire to attempt to obey Islamic law, to pay him [i]that[/i] kind of respect. You can bury or cremate a body respectfully without bowing to the religious laws the enemy you just killed wanted to see imposed on you. This says to me that although Obama needed to give the green light for the operation to kill Osama for the sake of his own poll numbers, he still respects what Osama was ultimately trying to accomplish; the imposition of Islamic law on the west. Obviously, burning him in pig fat was never in the cards, but that doesn’t mean we needed to bow to Islamic law.
Finally. It’s about time, and hard to believe they didn’t know his location long ago, not even getting into the chance we had years ago when Gary Berntsen and company were in sight of his positions and not given the go ahead. We’ll see now whether respecting his Osama’s traditions was a better idea than Pershing’s burying Mohammadan insurgents under pig parts.

Who gives a crap what motivates the Islamofacists. There is no excuse — none, nada, zip, zero — for their slaughter of innocents, their horrific brutality toward women and little girls, etc. They are no better than Nazis and Stalinist thugs.
