I suspect that a family genetic DNA confirmation is adequate to verify that it was not a surgically-modified look-alike.

A look-alike would have no genetic relation at all.

If they were testing fragmentary remains after a bombing, where no visual ID was possible, then I’d agree that the DNA test might be fooled by a Bin Laden relative’s remains.

Let’s say they lift his body out of there in a helicopter . They take him to a base. Where?? In Kabul??

They can do a DNA test in about 6 hours according to one Freeper.

He supposedly died around 3:30 EST.

Let’s say everyone was on alert to go with this as soon as DNA confirmed.

Still not enough time.

You can’t get to Kabul in one hour via helicopter can you???

How are you going to do a DNA test while flying in a helicopter.

And just when did they dump his body at sea and how??

Dumping a body at sea is not in the ISLAMIC tradition.

I call BS on the whole story.

I do think the military leaders showed some good sense not to do this before the Royal Wedding but I do think that the Royal Family knew it was going to go down.

In other words, if you gave me the right equipment and the DNA sample of OBL and the reference sample from his sister - I could tell you if the guy was the sibling of the sister in a single working day - or less.

What about false positives? What is the percentage of those?

This sister reportedly had several dozen siblings, OBL being one of them.

The body was flown “out to sea” not likely just minutes away. And any analysis takes “a working day or less” (your words). There aren’t enough minutes available in the time line presented to make a definitive identification of the dead body.

Add to this, there were NO bodyguards, no security present at the compound beside the tall walls surrounding the buildings. And, on top of everything, the body was dumped ASAP. The Mob isn’t this efficient in spinning a story.

I want to believe OBL was killed by US forces, but I would like to see proof, I will not take the word of this man in the white house that is running a political campaign.

Pretty quick turnaround for a DNA match. News earlier today said the confirmation on the DNA match wouldn’t be in for a couple of weeks.

This story started smelling wrong before sunrise.

You don't need a body to analyze DNA.

So unless you are suggesting a member of the Seal team had a vial of OBL blood to “plant” as the DNA sample from the body - that is just ludicrous but go on with your bad self.

But your assertion that it would take two months to run a DNA sample is so off the mark that it is almost humorous.

Two Obama administration officials say DNA evidence has proven that Osama bin Laden is dead, with 99.9 percent confidence.

The officials did not immediately say where or how the testing was done but the test explains why President Barack Obama was confident to announce the death to the world Sunday night.
