It would kinda be nice if mikey won the same way!
If Osama couldn’t take a joke, screw him!
Much more was spent on WWII.
Frankly, the wars are what helped us find the son of a bitch. Because we were operating all over the world, and imprisoning terrorists, we have systematically hunted down most of the leadership of the radical islamists. We couldn’t have just nuked one area to get OBL because we didn’t know where he was hardly any of the time. It took almost ten years but we literally found the needle in the haystack. We would never bomb all of Pakistan, it just isn’t humanitarian to do that. We hit Japan in WWII because it was a protracted war that would have continued to be more costly in lives and money had it gone on further. It was seen as justified. Killing millions of innocents to get one man would not fly in our world, and justifiably so.
In the end, the Iranians out muscled him to the point that he was pretty much irrelevant. Wouldn’t shock me if the Iranians had something to do with revealing his whereabouts.
I think you might want to consider the first word in this website’s name.
Please list the rights you have lost.
Please identify, with citation from the text, the Patriot Act provisions that should not have been put in place.
Please explain why going to the country where the headquarters of the enemy was to hunt them down was needless.
For purposes of discussion, let's assume MM's point here is valid. We created bin Laden.
I would contend that if 9/11 and the WoT is the price we had to pay for destroying the USSR and bringing Communism down in Europe, then it has been (to date) a very cheap victory.
In 1985 we stood at all times on the brink of the deaths at a moment's notice not of 3000 but of tens or hundreds of millions of Americans. Bringing that confrontation to an end was worth almost any price.
That said, MM is still an idiot.
BTW, the Afghans did little or no terror attacks in USSR. Their targets were Soviet soldiers in Afghanistan. Attacks on them were not terrorism.
Mr. Pearl, it’s your turn to speak up. Let’s hear it.
According to Obama, people like Bin Laden aren’t real Muslims, so why should he be given an Islamic burial?
A ten year war is not a protracted war? There comes a time when you end it. You either end it by massive destruction and pull out, or just pull out and let them do what they please.
So thats the reason for Moores revolting victory dance, not that an enemy of America has finally been killed, but because OBL has won!
Its hard to tell who was more Anti-American, OBL or Moore
I didn’t say I agreed on everything, but being groped by the TSA represents a freedom lost, if you’re looking for examples.
I’d add wealth lost because of over taxation to fund excessive police efforts.
The Patriot Act represents a potential for abuse. I don’t know what rights I have lost there. Yet.
I thought he was asking to be a weiner. A weiner would have been a better picture of him.
[Mr] T
He’s already a wiener. And I did use a photo of a wiener.
My guess is Moore and Bin Laden currently smell identically.
marxist pig!
I don't recall anyone stating that you agreed with Michael Moore on 'everything'. That would make you an America-hating loon. I don't see that in your previous posts.
The TSA groping is definitely annoying but we've experienced attempted airline bombings (Richard Reid -'the shoe bomber' in 2001 and Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab,'the underwear bomber' in 2009. Had these men been successful, hundreds would have died. Precautions must be taken. Any 'freedom lost' is due to the threats from Muslim suicide bombers, not the government that is acting to protect it's citizens. Although we can quibble about the best methods to ensure that protection (and we all dislike the TSA) but the rationale for that agency is valid, based on our experience with would-be suicide bombers.
Id add wealth lost because of over taxation to fund excessive police efforts.
Over-taxation is definitely a problem for Americans but not solely due to the cost of wars in Iraq and/or Afghanistan but due to the reckless spending of the politicians in Washington on things other than the wars in Iraq/Afghanistan. Yes, that includes Republicans. However, according to estimates, the cost of 9/11 was at least 100 billion. The defense of it's citizens is a governments primary obligation. Michael Moore would disagree but President Bush acted appropriately when he sent the U.S. military into Iraq and Afghanistan. That the leftist Obama is still keeping (and increasing) U.S. troops in Afghanistan validates their initial deployment following 9/11. Iraq is a fragile but democratic nation and the removal (and subsequent execution by Iraqis) of Saddam Hussein was both necessary and beneficial to Iraq's citizens and the security of the United States.
The Patriot Act represents a potential for abuse. I dont know what rights I have lost there. Yet.
Speculation. You can't prove a negative.
As scary as it is to agree with Michael Moore, so do I.
