"Celebrity Apprentice" stars urged to denounce Trump

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - An African-American political advocacy group is targeting "Celebrity Apprentice" star Donald Trump in the aftermath of what many feel are racially tinged political comments made about President Obama.

On Thursday, the organization ColorOfChange launched a Twitter-based campaign to persuade black "Celebrity Apprentice" cast members Star Jones and Lil Jon to denounce Trump for what the group terms "race-baiting."

Trump has made headlines in recent weeks by repeatedly questioning whether Obama was born in the U.S. Obama released his longform birth certificate April 27 with the hope of settling the matter, but the issue has been kept alive by a segment of the "birther" movement.

"This is the first organized attempt to target these celebrities and demand that they, as prominent African-Americans, take a public stance against Donald Trump's ongoing attacks against President Obama," ColorOfChange said in a statement.

Publicists representing Jones and Lil Jon did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

Groupon, the discount shopping website, pulled its online advertisements from the "Celebrity Apprentice" website last week after customers -- spurred on by progressive advocacy group ThinkProgress -- complained.

Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter contacted nearly all of the companies that have recently aired advertisements on the long-running reality competition series to ask whether they might follow in Groupon's footsteps.

"Apprentice" advertisers Kay Jewelers, Allstate, Microsoft and Procter & Gamble declined to comment on their advertising plans, and more than 30 others did not respond to phone calls and emails.

Rashad Robinson, executive director of ColorOfChange, said the campaign has started strongly. "We've gotten a lot of people tweeting," said Robinson, adding that the goal is to send a message to Jones, Lil Jon and other "Celebrity Apprentice" cast members that "they can't have a relationship with the black community

Liberals hate free speech. We'd have a dictatorship if it would be up to them.

That's just sick.

This is their plan...anybody who brings up the mostly unknown background of The One is to be trashed in public...his/her ability to function will be attacked. They will be put outside of polite society...and anyone who supports them will also be denounced.

This is stuff they used to do in the old USSR and Red China...remember the “gang of four”? Sensitivty training will be arranged...so such incorrect thinking can be corrected.

Scary, scary people.

Don’t you know? Black Americans are only allowed to have “correct opinions”. It’s one of the most important rules on the Democratic Party Plantation.

If you’re a Black American and you have an “incorrect opinion” about anything, you make the Plantation Master very, very angry.

they can't have a relationship with the black community and have a relationship with Trump and not call him out for his actions.

Does the "black community" not know that if it weren't for Trump, these "stars" would be in the unemployment line?

In other words, when he cracks the whip and says "jump boy", he has better jump.

The best thing Trump and crew can do is laugh at them and ignore them.

Which is exactly where they would be again if they were to “dis” Trump. I don’t think that career suicide is going to be very popular.

I started watching this season right before Gary busey got fired.

Trump is letting Starr Jones get away with a lot and I don’t see any negativity towards L’il John.

Trump did make a crass comment about crawling up Starr Jones butt..but that wasn’t racial..that was just Trump making gross comments about women..

he frequently makes inane comments about women.

Two can play this game. Groupon can be boycotted by everyone who is offended by their decision to pull advertising from Trump.

Asking questions about a unknown person’s background is not racist. Obama himself said he was helped by affirmative action. Why won’t he explain how he was helped?

They did a great job marginalizing Trump. Unless he gets back up, and continues to request transparency from Obama he’s finished if not already. He now looks like a coward.

Skip the BC, and let’s move on to the next thing, the school records, or the social security deal.

What gets me is that if he supposedly sent investigators to Hawaii, how come they were not able to find evidence from the hospital about Obama’s birth? No birth records there?

I think this birth certificate was forged some time ago...awaiting the right moment to release it.

All it will take however, is one person. ONe person to unravel and topple this.

Is there no one, in the CIA, FBI ex FBI etc who can ferret out the truth about this one trick pony?

ColorOfChange is the same group that promoted the Beck boycott. They are another bunch of leftist race pimps.

"they can't have a relationship with the black community and have a relationship with Trump and not call him out for his actions."

If these clowns even remotely had the ability to carry out their threats, this would be extortion.

I have to wonder about the sanity of the Groupon executives when they refused to sell to Google after being offered $6 billion for the company considering the the age and depth of the company. All I have ever scene from them are 1/2 price deals for restaurants dozens of miles from anywhere. I never used them and even got off their notification list.

Good luck keeping that business model to yourself! No one would have the sense to copy that one!

I wonder why Google, Yahoo, or Bing wouldn't flat out steel their business plan and go into direct competition. They already have the sales force and name recognition. Google did them a favor by offering to buy them out before they turned the screws on them.
