An Illinois lawmaker says parents who have obese children should lose their state tax deduction. "It's the parents' responsibility that have obese kids," said state Sen. Shane Cultra, R-Onarga. "Take the tax deduction away for parents that have obese kids." Cultra has not introduced legislation to deny parents the $2,000 standard tax deduction, but he floated the idea Tuesday, when lawmakers took a shot at solving the state's obesity epidemic.

Well, go ahead, pound me, but the fat could carry a little more weight on the tax burden scale!
“So....I googled his name. While not obese or anything....dude looks like his fork should spend more time resting at the side of HIS plate.”
That is the first thing i thought when i saw his mug too>
Tax this jerk’s fat mouth.
How about slapping some sense into this fool’s head. Sounds like a lot of air between the ears.
Excellent suggestion, although the person doing the smacking would exhaust himself long before the politicians acquired any sense.
Fat kids don’t suffer enough at school? This anti-fat vitriol is getting scary. Next they will suggest putting fat folks into “health re-education” camps.
The elderly consume the most health care dollars, so when are the politicians going to suggest denying them care? Oh wait, that’s been done.
Using the power to tax for social engineering is not exactly conservative. Just goes to show, though, that a lot of pubbies can barely contain the statist inside. Sometimes the mask slips.
Next thing you know the gov’t will be investigating anorexia and why it is so widespread in the schools. The kids will starve themselves rather than be chastised by their teachers and the gov’t.
Only if we slap liberal parents with large taxes as they are raising a bunch of people expecting the state to take care of them.
They ought to make a law they can’t be in session for 90 days every two years.
Alright this is getting out of hand. What is in these people’s water??? Are people going batty? Basically punishing and charging people a fee because their children are chubby??????? I have been thin all my life and my mother before me but my husband’s family has fat genes on the female side so my daughter was pretty chubby at times when she was young but she did not eat too much and was active. That’s besides the point though! For pete’s sake are they going to tax parents who have kids with acne, bad eyesight, cavities, speech problems? Where does it end and what sense does it make? Hitler liked everyone to look the same too, he imprisoned or killed those whose looks or heritage he didn’t like.
Now, taxes are being used to force changes in personal behavior. The list of this foolishness starts in California and spreads to New York.
Remember this folks, when they taxed tobacco and no one complained the politicians took this as a green light to use similar tactics on other “threats” to the general well being.
And they are going to just tax us all to death. I'm really angry about this. We already work 4 months out of the year for the government. They just keep taking and taking and taking. If we are lucky we get a little back in a program that costs twice as much as it would have, if we'd just paid for the darned thing ourselves.
Liberals are only good at a few things but, they are very good. One is they lie and stretch the truth to fit their agenda and they are expert at that. Two, they know how to slander anyone who dares to disagree with them like not bodies business. Three they would raise taxes on the dead of they could. And four, they destroy everything they touch. What nauseates me the most, are the people who buy into this, hook line and sinker.
Now THAT is a good one!!!
I've been saying the same thing since the mid '80s when the war on smokers first got into high gear. I wanted to be wrong (but I knew I wasn't).
Regards,
I’m betting that half the kids he’s talking about are on the government School Breakfast Lunch and Dinner program.
I've got a better idea. How about taking away their food stamps? That might do the trick! It also might make the parents less fat. How many "poor" people these days are lazin' around watching their wide screen TVs just getting fatter?
Gee. If we slap parents of fat kids, what can we do to the ones who spawned politicians?
Doesn’t seem to inhibit Texas State Senator Leticia Van de Putte(D).
