MADISON, Wis. - Protests at the Wisconsin Capitol over public workers' collective bargaining rights cost more than $7.8 million for police, and damage to the Capitol will cost about $270,000 to repair, a state official said.

Department of Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch said during a news conference Friday that local law enforcement incurred $3.9 million in overtime costs from Feb. 14 to March 13. Another $3.5 million was spent on overtime for state agencies that helped cover security such as the Capitol Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources and the Division of Criminal Investigation. Huebsch said that the state has not paid any claims yet, but will pay overtime and some justified food expenses incurred by local law enforcement once they've been audited.

270K? That’s not bad they could layoff one maybe two teachers at the most to pay for it.

Bah they oughta look at how the cops let the protesters in and didn’t enforce the laws against them, then dock then the whole amount.

Send the bill to the Unions since it was under their orders the protests were done.

Unions have no legal responsibility? I think a few video tapes, a trial and a jury might put a damper on this crap.

Because those same cops were for their fellow union protesters. I gotta hand it to Walker. Even after the head of the police union stated that he made a “mistake in supporting” Walker, walker stood his ground.

Not only that, the GOP assembly actually had the spine to go in to work and vote amidst a hostile libtard crowd waiting for them.

Since the cost is based on liberal protests, the liberals don’t care. They don’t think this is an extraordinary expense.

Why do liberals trash a place?

There was an enormous clean-up job after Obama’s inauguration in Washington.

There was minimal clean up needed after Glenn Beck’s Lincoln Memorial rally, as his audience did a great job of cleaning up after themselves.

A liberal oriented rally last fall in Washington, featuring labor groups, among other liberals, likewise left a huge amount of garbage behind.

$7.8M for police? That’s a lot for supporting their union thug pals.

Better yet, pass legislation that includes police and fire unions in the provisions of the earlier bill. The part that prohibits paycheck withholding of union dues would bankrupt the police and fire unions within a year.

Pass CCW FIRST, though, followed by Voter ID.

Send the bill to the WH and bill the kenyan personally. When he doesn’t pay, send collection notices. Put a lean on any property he owns. (which, in his mind is the US)

Give the teacher and cops unions a choice, they pony up the entire amount plus 20% administrative fee, or teachers and cops will be fired until that amount is removed from budget costs and use it to pay for police and damage costs.

They need to know their unlawful vandal protests cost them and not the taxpayers.

In our new world, communists Unions and liberal thugs have no responsibility for their actions. They are protected by Washington and the MSM. Open your wallet you honest taxpayers, you have to foot the bill so the crud of American can just keep sucking.

Shouldn’t the cost causer pay the cost?

Use the films and photos and start sending out the bills.

So bill them for it, charge interest for each day the bill is not paid, and if they still refuse to pay, fire teachers until the value is equal.

Let’s add this to the cost of the “re-count” for Klip Klopper. The libs love to waste taxpayer money. The union should have to pay the cost of the damage, the cost of the police and the cost of the recount - since this is all the result of their behavior and demands. Unbelievable. Let’s just hope that all these recounts result in INCREASED Republican control - that would really drive the libs nuts!

Don’t forget the over $7 million and counting for extra police. Not all communities have reported their costs yet.

I second that motion, PB3625!!

I never understood why the police and fire unions were not originally included in the bill. ....Passing legislation like that regarding other public employee unions, along with no longer having dues withheld from paychecks, would further lessen the unions’ hold on public workers.
