Ben Stein: "Arab Spring" is a fraud
CBS News ^ | May 15, 2011

Posted on 05/15/2011 7:47:39 AM PDT by La Lydia

Now, I am going to tell you the truth about the so-called "Arab Spring," and about the Middle East generally right now. First, the "Arab Spring" as a force for democracy, human rights and peace in Egypt seems to me to be a fraud. The dictator and his entourage who were kicked out in Egypt were pro-West, a bit restrained on Israel, open to free enterprise, and resistant to Iranian-sponsored terror.

Egypt is now rapidly becoming anti-Israel, pro-Iran, pro the Iranian-sponsored terrorist group Hamas, and very far from being pro-human rights. They are arresting businessmen right and left in Egypt just for the crime of being successful. They have arrested Mubarak's sons, and have said they plan to try Mubarak.

The most potent of the political forces in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood, hates the United States, loathes Israel, condemns the killing of bin Laden (whom they praised as a martyr), and have been wedded to terror for their entire existence.

Oh, P.S, they are closely connected with Adolph Hitler. They will probably take over Egypt completely sooner or later....

Has anyone noticed that the common denominator of all the successful Arab street movements is that they are sympathetic to Iran? When the dust settles, Iran is going to own the Middle East - except for maybe Saudi Arabia, if we have the guts to help them (which I very much doubt).

We are going to lose our pals in Bahrain - not nice guys, but pals of the U.S.A. anyway - and we are going to lose our pals in Yemen, and it will possibly have an actual al Qaeda government.

There is a gigantic regional coup by Iran taking place. We are doing very little, if anything, to stop it...

Egypt has never had FREEdom, and has always been run by a dictator.. The people do not know or want freedom.. Much like Russia or China.. the people have never had, known or want[ed] freedom...

Quite true. In fact, Egypt was the original fountainhead of the modern techniques of totalitarian government. In 305 A.D., having just established the Tetrarchy in which he voluntarily associated three other men in the imperial purple, the Roman Emperor Diocletian settled his court in Egypt. His peer, the Augustus Maximian, was in southern France. Their juniors, Caesars Constantius Chlorus (grandfather of Constantine) and Galerius, had simplified courts in their garrison towns nearer the frontiers of the Empire.

To support a military campaign in the East by Galerius against the Persians, Diocletian moved from Italy to Egypt. While there, he observed the very ancient Egyptian tax-collection machinery in action, and the labor-corvee which the temple priests imposed on the people through the local officialdom.

Diocletian copied the Egyptian techniques and ideas and generalized them thoughout the Empire. Those precepts are today the foundation of modern totalitarianism. The supremacy of the State, the untouchability of rulers, the dictation of the minutiae of life without appeal or redress are all the legacy of the Egyptian priesthood and what they taught the Pharaohs, the Ptolemies, and Diocletian.

Our FRiend is referring to the fact that The Won has been back-channeling to the Muslim Brotherhood for a couple of years now, using as his personal emissaries and -- not to be too blunt about the comparison to Osama Bin Laden -- couriers to send word back and forth to the Brotherhood in Egypt, to-wit, terrorists (I don't consider them either "retired" or "ex-") Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn and a woman who is high up in the wiring diagram of Code Pink. All were present simultaneously in Egypt, talking to the MB types, when the Gaza "flotilla" episode transpired, and apparently carrying Obama's mail for him to the MB.

It would appear from that and from the official diplomatic moves and semiofficial back-channeling to Hosni Mubarak during the latter's overthrow, that Obama was cooperating with MB in the effort to overthrow, and that de facto Pres_ent Obama is an ally and supporter of both the MB and of the Al-Q'aedist jihadis in Syria. He has likewise taken a hand on the side of radical insurrectionists trying to overthrow the governments of Yemen and Bahrain.

Add it up. Obama's acting in concert with radical Islam, our deadly enemy, to ruin the security policy and diplomacy of the United States.

The Arabs are going to end up as Persian slaves (again)

Ben Stein is establishing a name to facilitate running for office. He sees the Country swinging conservative, so he’s a conservative, now. Whatever it takes to earn the Congressional retirement package, that’s what Ben Stein will do!

The invasion of Iraq certainly did. Were you and Stein cheering on that action?

A strong Westward looking Iraq is the only foil against Iran (Persians). Again, think Ft. Apache.

I don’t think the Arabs in Iraq want to be Persian slaves.

Iraq has to know that if they look toward Iran or Islamism they are again enslaved. Will what we did save them in the long run? I don't really know but it is their ONLY hope.

ahahaha - just saw his reply to your succinct run down of how The WON ‘fermented’ the overthrow of Egypt.

He totally rejects it. Must be further out there than I thought.

Let's see, Egypt and Lybia (with the old Caliphate stomping ground in Tripoli) makes up one huge chunk of Africa, control of a great deal of the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez. (Plus gets rid of two of most stable ME countries - who were also working with us and deadly enemies of Al Q.

Nothing to see there, right?

Question is, in a few days, the Lybia invasion runs out of any semblance of legality. Will the Congress say “Enough!”?

Okay, wise guy. What's your theory?

The Code Pink slut and both Ayers and Dohrn were all in Egypt just as a coincidence as the flotilla gig was going down?

They weren't carrying messages from Obama?

Obama's undercutting Mubarak was a coincidence?

That Egypt has fallen -- note the perfect tense -- into the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood is also a coincidence?

Come on, give. Explain all the coincidences. Explain, O Pharaoh, how "these things are ordered of themselves".
