Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that he strongly supports a federal mandate requiring citizens to buy health insurance – a position that has been rejected by many Republicans, including several who likely will be running against him for the Republican presidential nomination.
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Gingrich told host David Gregory that he continues to advocate for a plan he first called for in the early 1990s as a Congressman, which requires every uninsured citizen to purchase or acquire health insurance.

I love Michelle Bachmann, but she has not announced and I doubt that she would be drafted. and face it, tough as she is, Palin IS the Mama Grizzly. I don’t think Bachmann could win the nomination, although she would get a sizeable portion of TEA Party votes....IF Sarah doesn’t run.
I actually think that Bachmann is part of the reason Sarah has held back. She is giving her chance to shine, but it ain’t working for her. If it was/did, I think Sarah might have stayed back but I don’t see it happening for Michelle.

A man in Massachusetts called in to the Savage show the other day and said he pays for his own insurance - with a $10,000 deductible - and has the $10,000 set aside in a separate account for just that.
BUT
Mass. says NO. and is fining him in lieu of buying Romney Care.
It's not medical coverage they want - it's total control.
this 3,000+ page bill has much more to do with other controls over our lives than it does medical care. That is only the smoke screen.

He’s an AMERICAN and PROUD of it. Besides that he KNOWS what islam is and does upside, downside, inside, and outside. The man is a MAN like I have not seen in our political system for a very long time. And I TRUST him. How many politicians can you say that about?

One would think that after all the many years of liberals jerking Newt's chain he would learn NOT to get lost on 'details'. He could have simply said 'health care' should always remain in the private sector. The federal government has NO constitutional authority to be mandating any individual or groups to purchase 'government' controlled programs. But we are so close to single payer socialized medicine I do not see US ever going back.
Is Newt a Democrat now? He has lost my support if this indeed is true!

Wrong. Who do you think reimburses the hospitals for the uninsured, including illegal aliens? The unreimbursed costs of treating illegal aliens have shut down many hospitals and ERs near the border.

Support for the individual mandate is one of those things, like Trump’s support for the Kelo decision, that’s an absolute deal breaker.
