Donald Trump is not running for president.

"After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency," Trump said in a statement Monday. "This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country," the real estate mogul and reality show star continued.

“I don't stalk any FReeper or troll any threads. I comment on birther threads for two reasons. First, the subject interests me. Second, I don't want to see FR’s reputation ruined by delusional theories and conspiracies, however ‘well-intentioned’ those theories are. Somebody has to be a voice of reason because the birther group-think gets pretty thick around here at times.”

You appear to me to have just perfectly defined yourself as a “concern troll”!

Once again, you have smeared birthers broadbrush by calling them "delusional" making the name "birther" a pejorative by the equation.

I will be the first to stipulate that some birthers are delusional just like some portion in any human group are delusional and prone to embrace illogical or demonstrably false claims. But that does not justify the ad hominem broadbrush smear of calling all birthers delusional and in need of being rescued by you personally. Talk about describing delusional mania!

When I or most FReepers observe that a FReeper, birther or not, has stated as a fact something that appears to have been debunked, it is polite and customary to provide links which refute the incorrect claim. It is a smear to declare that a class of persons (birthers) are all delusional or otherwise deficient based on the behavior of one ill-informed, or even numerous FReepers who happen to repeat a debunked birther claim.

I don’t trust Trump and I was afraid he might be doing just as you suggested. If he does not come back in the next day or two and confront Obama with the obvious forgery, you will be proven right on the money.

The 2 major arguments birthers make center around the birth status of Obama. The BC and NBC.

“Birther” is accurately descriptive. Get over yourself.

I can't count the number of times I've been called an "Obot", despite being a life-long conservative.

Yes, but the birther issue will NOT, by itself, remove him from office.

I should have said "at the very least" it is an issue.

It’s a bit late in the game for that.

It has always been a long shot, but never too late. A smoking gun could appear that forces Obama out.

“He’s ILLEGITIMATE! Toss Him OUT!”

Ain’t happening. Maybe true but ain’t happening.

The bastard is ripping up the tomato patch and birthers want to quibble over his right to the tiller.

Now, this is the biggest long shot and you are correct based on the loooong odds against the pure NBC argument since most of our institutions have failed to address it for numerous reasons. However, I'll still argue after 3 years of studying the NBC Constitutional clause based on principle alone that Obama is not qualified for office.

Obama is not qualified for office.

Cool. Fine. I agree.

WHAT DOES THAT DO?

Not a freakin' thing.

Now I’m a “concern troll?” Okay. I’ll update my FB status from “lying Obama-boot-licking troll” to “concern troll.” Does that work for you? Are we good?

You seemed to be overly concerned. And since they are no one of significance and the issue 'is a joke' to you don't bother. Don't click on the thread. I don't run around commenting on threads of issues that I may disagree with to disparage people. Why should you? Obama is not ever going to be propelled into a new presidential term because he showed his "birth certificate" to the world.

It in no way advances conservatism or serious conservative presidential candidates.

Well, many of us think defending the NBC clause is a conservative matter.

A smoking gun could appear that forces Obama out.

And monkeys could fly out of 'gunner's butt. Entertaining? Yes. Likely? No.

OOPS, guess I had a typo....like that NEVER happens. I also said something about other candidates not questioning "BC" (birth certificate) when I meant "BO" (Obama). Oh well, such is life on the Internet. ps, I really am not all that stupid ;-)

For one thing, I believe in the truth, especially for someone who occupies the highest office in the land.

Well, we don't have that.

Let's see if can remedy that in the upcoming election.

How's that for a plan?

Constitutional issues and exposing Obama is much of the plan to remove Obama by the next election.

One thing this thread does is make it so a lot of people are just not going to post/read on FR any more.

The problem with the birthers all along is the insistence that anyone not fully onboard was against the Constitution and not to be listened to or associated with. Way to double down. You wont be missed if you go.

I comment because I consider unfounded birther conspiracy theories to be destructive to conservatism.

And if you want to argue the “Natural Born Citizen” status, why do you keep promoting the Birth Certificate is a fraud angle? Obama readily admits his father was Kenyan.

Entertaining a birther fantasy, imagine Orly arguing before the Supreme Court that Obama is not eligible because his father is a Kenyan. Scalia demands to have the document validated. The “fraudulent” birth certificate is entered as evidence. Obama is now guilty of fraud. Or it's genuine and the case continues. Either way Obama loses.

So again I ask. What is the point of birthers obsessing over the birth certificate if they are really concerned about Obama’s natural born citizen status? The birth certificate confirms the critical information.
