White House, Pelosi: Obamacare waivers a regular thing, we’ve approved more than 1300 Matthew Boyle - The Daily Caller 38 mins ago

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney downplayed the significance of the 38 Obamacare waivers luxurious hotels, gourmet restaurants, hip nightclubs, day spas and four-star hotels received in April in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s district.

In the Tuesday press briefing, he said the administration has approved more than 1,300 waivers from the health care law’s requirements, and has rejected less than 100 waiver-applications. The total of approved waivers “is not that much,” he said, adding that the temporary waivers were granted to organizations that offer their employees relatively cheap insurance coverage, dubbed “mini-med” insurance.

But, of the 204 waivers the administration approved in April, 38 of them, or about 20 percent, were for businesses in Pelosi’s district.

Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshani told The Daily Caller that waiver applications are “reviewed and granted solely by the administration in an open and transparent process so workers currently enrolled in ‘mini-med’ policies like those in San Francisco and across the country will not be punished and lose the minimum coverage they already have.” He added that the waivers will be eliminated by 2014, which he says is when, “Americans will have an opportunity to shop for affordable coverage on the health exchanges and will no longer be at the mercy of insurance companies placing coverage limits on policies.”

Even so, it remains unclear as to how the administration decides who gets waivers and who doesn’t, and how the administration decides which businesses and companies move to the front of the waiver approval line.

This just proves that federalizing your personal health simply means you, your family and your body are now just simply bargaining chips for politicians you have never met.

Sad.

So who is going to be left to pay for this monstrosity?

If every democRAT is exempt, and muslims are exempt is it going to be on the shoulders of whitey?

I wish the tough follow-up questions will be asked.

Such as, if Obamacare is so wonderful, why are so many companies seeking waivers? And, are those getting waivers cashing in on political connections?

And, why would the most transparent administration in history be indulging in political horse trading like this in the first place? Which also ties in with questions about seeking a waiver from Obamacare, when Obamacare was supposed to guarantee all high quality healthcare. Who could possibly want a waiver from that?????

If it was a good program there wouldn’t be many waivers.

It’s a disaster and every business person knows it.

“I wish the tough follow-up questions will be asked.”

That is my number one gripe in America today. The commies have successfully turned the MSM into the American version of Pravda. In addition to that, they have successfully cast such a negative shadow on Fox that most of the squishy middle independents immediately dismiss any information from “Faux News”.

If the news coverage was fair, and Americans still wanted communism, I wouldn’t be nearly as upset. Disgusted, yes, upset, not so much.

1,300? They need to approve roughly 300,000,000. Since we are all created equal, I will assume we all have the same right to a waiver.

Basically, anyone connected with government, politicians of the ruling party, ANY traditional liberal victim group, illegals, foreigners, favored companies that contribute to Obama - in short, anyone that isn't a traditional Anglo Saxon white who works, pays taxes and doesn't take money from anyone else, will get an exemption.

In the end it is a targeted punishment tax for being a white conservative.

“What part of equal protection under the laws does this follow?”

If this administration believed in equal protection under the laws, there would be some Black Panthers sitting in prison for voter intimidation.

I think the Republicans should propose a program of waivers from federal tax liabilities since these surely are far more onerous than any requirements imposed by Obamacare. Once the Dems and MSM shout this idea down as blatantly unfair, Republicans can reasonably ask how parallel waivers under Obamacare possibly could be either fair or constitutional.
