St. Croix County (WQOW) - An area county makes its first arrest involving a new trend of drug abuse.
Grant Leonard was arrested Saturday morning in St. Croix County for driving under the influence of bath salts. A deputy spotted Leonard's vehicle crossing the center line several times and come within inches of oncoming cars. Leonard told the deputy he had purchased the bath salts at a Hudson store, and snorted it all night with friends.

So called “Bath Salts” are a synthetic form of cocaine that is legally, in most states, being sold at head shops. I’ve spoken recently to a Dr. at a Detox intake for a rehab unit and he states he is increasingly seeing people coming in with an addiction to these synthetic substances that the states are slow to ban.
For curiosity I tried to taste a chunk of bath salt to see what it tasted like and it was the most bitter thing I have ever tried. I also cannot imagine snorting salt.
At least they’re cleaner in mug shots than paint huffers.

Not really “bath salts”, it’s a drug the dealers have marketed as “Bath Salts” to dodge the War On Some Drugs. There are real bath salts for the bath, but the Bath Salts here cost $20/gram. And if you look at the Erowid Experience Files, they are not too good for you.

This type of synthetic drug, marketed as Bath Salts were recently banned in New Jersey after a notorious case in my little town where a man using this drug beat his girlfriend to death. He blames the bath salts, of course. The fact that he had been in trouble with the local authorities consistently for the last six years indicates nothing...
They are illegal in Florida.
Taking away those bath salts will lead to a life of grime.
