Paul, a tea-party-backed senator who opposes the Patriot Act, has said he wants to “drag out” the process of renewing key provisions of the counter-terrorism law which expire Friday. Reid had hoped to recess the Senate during the speech and count that toward the cloture clock, but Paul stayed on the Senate floor, kept the chamber open, and was able to stop the cloture clock.

Thank you for bringing some much needed facts into this Rand Paul Bash-Fest. I appreciate Sen. Paul fighting against Dingy Harry and efforts to push through some troubling issues with the Patriot Act.
There's a whole lot of charges of antisemitism being thrown at Rand Paul and damned little to back them up.
Rand obviously is libertarian in his stripes. He thinks, like most, that the Patriot Acts is help to create a police state and a country closer to Nazi Germany. So if Rand is a carbon copy of his father then he doesn’t like War on Terror. The he thinks it is an excuse to grow the police state for a lack of a better word. While I get the concern, there is no need to be anti-Semite like Obama. And there is a War on Terror. And the muslims want to take us down. Period. So defend Israel.
