Yet another reason why the “Paul Ryan Plan” was such a useless, stupid exercise. Needlessly giving Democrats a signature issue to hurt the GOP with seniors, all for an issue we could never, ever get through the Senate or President.

This has been in the news for weeks. Either people are incredibly stupid or the party did not do their job in informing party members. But this does not bide well at all for us no matter what the reason.

When the hell will the cowardly GOP wake the hell up they the left does not go by the gentleman rules?

Cowards and weaklings don't change their stripes.

Crybaby Boehner will be kicking and screaming when he finally loses and is dragged out of his office.

"But, to lose a district that went GOP 75-25"

Yeah. But it's not like the seat is really THAT Republican. McCain won it with only 52%. Lee won with 55% in 2008.

In 2006 that "Tea Party" guy Davis was the Democrat nominee and he got 48%. Also he was the Democrat in 2004 and he lost by 11 points, similar margin in the Presidential race.

Confused? Davis was not a real Tea Party candidate. He’s twice ran as a democrat.

Obama has the media and the repubs don't have that same cover.

What...actually consider the conditions before implementing a strategy? What a concept!

You are spot on.

Progressive stinkin Obama lovers are saying this is a sign of what 2012 will be like. They will run with this for 6 days in the news while Obama sells out Israel to terrorists and gives them an office in DC on our dime. How brain dead are the NY jewish democrat progressives?

“I hope this blows over by the election, but I was NOT surprised to see Republicans get in trouble over this.”

They need to shift the focus to what Republicans are supposed to be leading on: job creation. Polls from NY26 showed that the GOP was actually polling below the Dems on this. Seriously. And the need to get back to hammering away at Obamacare.

And personally, I don’t think they should stick their necks out so close to the next election on Medicare when it’s obvious to everyone the Dems will only use it to demagogue. Ryan’s plan might be a perfectly logical economic proposal- but the plain truth that many people don’t want to admit is a fair amount of senior citizens don’t always have all the mental sharps they once had, and the Dems’ demagoguing works.

Ryan’s plan can always be brought up again with a Repub Senate majority and president. And if we get downgraded in our credit rating before that time... well, that’s Obama’s problem.

For one thing you cant protect all those over 55 with everyone else footing the bill later getting thrown of the ship. How is a future 67 year old going to get private insurance when those a few years older are part of a massive medicare pool to demand low prices? It's like those under 55 are thrown off the cruise ship into the ocean(after they retire) told to swim on their own, to protect important voters OVER 55 on the cruise ship.

EXACTLY! I have been saying this since this stupidity came out. Say you are 54...can you change your investment strategy to come up with another $2000/month when you retire??? That is what it will take, on TOP of the pittance that they are talking about giving people. Oh, and the pittance is on a "sliding scale"...so once again the useless are rewarded while the responsible pay the price.

And let's talk about the timing, shall we? Great time to trot that out...after you have been perceived as bailing out billionaires around the globe, huge banks, Wall Street, and various assorted deadbeats.

Meanwhile, the people footing the bill visit emergency rooms only to wait 6 hours behind a bunch of obviously "non-paying" consumers...while watching their premiums increase 10-20 percent per year.

We send foreign aid to despots; are paying obnoxious retirements to Government employees; are supporting a failing education system; are supporting a bunch of lowlifes who are allowing their children to roam the streets like feral packs of animals.

We have rapidly rising food & fuel prices, a complete lack of jobs, NO plan to bring capital and jobs back to the U.S., while we are in FACT subsidizing trading partners who are tacitly (and sometimes openly) hostile.

And, they decide to lead with cutting Medicare? Just terrific strategic marketing.

Davis, a former dem and veteran, got petitions out and gained a spot on the ballot. He named his new party, “Tea Party”, though he has no connection with the Tea Party we know and love. The 8% who voted for him, some of whom wanted to teach the Rino-ish Republican a lesson, gave us a dem in the usually conservative seat. That’ll show ‘em!

“Yet another reason why the “Paul Ryan Plan” was such a useless, stupid exercise. Needlessly giving Democrats a signature issue to hurt the GOP with seniors, all for an issue we could never, ever get through the Senate or President.”

Sadly true.

Barack Obama is president partly because when the stock market crashed in ‘08, his opponent acted first and rashly suspended his campaign. Obama sat on the sidelines doing nothing... and was rewarded.

Now, the Repubs have acted first again without thinking through all the consequences, and the Dems are reaping the benefits, for nothing.

It’s time for Conservatives to go on the offensive, and drop all the earnest attempts to “save the country” stuff. Addressing entitlements is much too difficult (and politically dangerous) a task for inarticulate squishes like the current Repub leadership.

You’re right, except this wasn’t a true Tea Party candidate, this was someone who had run two times or more already as a Dem. Where there isn’t an organic and genuine Tea Party candidate, the Dems will manufacture one to split the vote.

Medicare is dead. Just view it as a tax and a cost of doing business in 21st-century America.

Freedom-loving and self-sufficient Americans will just have to outrun the coming collapse. Work as hard as you can, live frugally, stay healthy as possible and save as much money as you can so that you can pay CASH for healthcare in the future when the system collapses.

It’s pretty clear that a huge chunk of Americans obviously aren’t interested in freedom anymore. SCREW ‘EM. I’m planning ahead and will be waltzing right past them in the government healthcare waiting line with a fistful of cash.

Cold? You bet. But it looks like that’s the way it’s going to have to be.

He hedged yesterday on F&F. He's leaving the door open.

Mo's right. Trump can hand the election to Obama on a silver platter if he chooses (or is persuaded) to.

Pardon my language, but your sister and those who think (or rather emote) like her are idiots killing this country. She choice the impossible perfect, killing the good. Congratulations. We will not fix medicare. But she can feel vindicated having helped to solidify Boehner’s position, right?
